Still waiting on at least 8 more schools but the more I look into UVA the more I like them so it would take a CLS or NYU with great aid to sway me.DiniMae wrote:Thanks! Are youstill waiting on anyone or did you grab UVA and sit back?JamaicanSaiyan8 wrote:Congrats on all acceptances today!!!

I was pretty sure I was avoiding ASW's like the plague, but I'd go to some just to participate in this.DiniMae wrote: #teamamazing

Re: URM 2014-2015 Cycle Thread
Call me a nerd, but I plan to attend as many ASWs and regional receptions as possible. Unless I get a call from Faye, all orher schools are up in the air right now. So I think interacting with alumni, students and staff will be helpful. I don't have a long list of schools, so it's feasible for me.
ETA: My finances are basically the same across all schools except for GULC and NU, so they're "likely out". Unfortunately I somehow missed that the AJD isn't fully covered by the GI Bill and considering my other "free" options, I have no reason to choose to pay more.

Yes, that's what I assumed too...but I've learned to try not assume.jemthey17 wrote: Why you planned to avoid ASWs, I'd assume.
And Gold, I have a couple of issues: (1) forced socializing is something I promised to disabuse myself of long ago; (2) I am naturally skeptical of any school's "show weekend". It's something that I've learned from my years in education--I don't want to see your school when you're ready for a bunch of folks like me to see it, I wanna see it when it's Tuesday in the dead of winter and everyone's exhausted. That to me says a lot more about what the place is really like.

Hey LC, on one of your future polls, would you mind asking what people are using as determining factors for which school to attend (location, finances, partner, size, specific program, employment stats, etc.)?

Well that's good. You still will get a feel for the schools. 5-6 in one month is a lot!cc78 wrote:Oh yes...I'm actually hitting the road starting this weekend and will see 5-6 schools over the next month.DiniMae wrote:Are you visiting outside of ASWs?cc78 wrote:

Cycle is finished, just waiting on $$$
Waitlisted: MVPD
Accepted: NCG
Didnt write a why duke, and for MVP I mentioned peer schools and that I would choose them over peers at equal cost (stupid stupid stupid)
Most likely staying in Canada unless I get $$$$ (40k a year - i know, unlikely)
