Leave it blankTorres1893 wrote:I'm in the middle of doing my applications and I'm kind of dumbfounded on what to select in the "what race do you identify yourself as?" question. I'm Mexican-American. My parents are both from Mexico and I was born here in the US. I already selected in one of the previous questions that I was a hispanic/latino and chose Mexican as my ethnicity, but in the race question I don't see any latino/hispanic options. I think when I was younger my mom made me choose white/caucasian, but I have brown skin so that doesn't really work out. Should I just choose "decline to respond"?

Checking in - realizing how little activity there is in the URM Forum makes me realize how few URM students apply to top schools

I think the thread my start getting more numbers deeper into the cycle as acceptances come in.
I'm nervous, I have my Columbia interview tomorrow, and Chicago interview on Monday! Both top choices.

My numbers are sort of weird so I just saved up some money and blanketed the T14 plus several T30 schools. Submitted most apps in late October. What about you?Barack O'Drama wrote:crookedsmile wrote:Checking in - realizing how little activity there is in the URM Forum makes me realize how few URM students apply to top schools.

I haven't actually taken the LSAT yet. I started prepping soon after I graduated this spring, but I ended up accepting a job offer, so I've delayed taking until next year. So I'll mostly likely take in June/September, then apply next cycle. It sucks because my heart was really set on this cycle.
I plan to apply to the T6 + Cornell (I'm from Upstate NY and love Ithica, haha) I just hope I can knock the LSAT out of the park. I haven't been prepping that much lately due to work.
I'm sure you will get some good results from the T14 and having T30 schools with scholly money is smart as well!

Re: URM 2016-2017 Cycle Thread
Finally sent in my applications.
I didn't apply to any t14. I don't think my stats are good enough (161 3.76). I applied to 4 schools in the top 25 and to my alma mater which is in the top 50 and has a strong presence in the region.
good luck everyone.

I think those stats are good enough for the T14? I know of people getting into the lower T14 with those stats. I guess it also depends on what type of URM you are as well.
Good luck with your apps!

Interview went great!!!! It was conversational, questions about my app, but never grilled me. Great insight into the school, here's to hoping I get accepted!crookedsmile wrote:Nice! I wanted to apply to Cornell and GULC, but I didn't get to talk to them at the LSAC forum I went to since they didn't come. I also want to apply to Mich. since it's my home state and would love to go back, but I think it's too far of a reach.

Definitely still think you should apply especially to GULC and Cornell. Could also write a convincing why Michigan and you never know what will happen, its definitely not too late.

Please apply if you're really interested. I'm a URM with a 3.4, 160 and just got into NYU which is my dream school. I know the conventional advice on here is that you need amazing stats, but I do think you also need to know yourself and how well of an application you can put forth.Torres1893 wrote:I'm a first gen. I applied mid-October. Because my stats weren't amazing, I made sure everything else in my app was top notch--essays and recs. I also had 4+ years WE toobeantheshadow wrote:When did you submit your apps? Congrats that's amazing!!!20171lhopeful wrote:Please apply if you're really interested.
