Hey there peoples, SEO alum from this past summer here. I lurked throughout the application process and never contributed, so I'm here to help you all out as penance. Feel free to ask me questions here or shoot me a PM. I am in the throes of 1L though, so I may be a bit slow in responding. In case you were wondering, yes SEO is worth it :)

Good luck to everyone!

Thanks for offering to answer questions! Can you tell us why you think SEO is worth it? I know you get a paid internship, and a well-paid one at that, but is there anything else that you can share with us about the program that makes it valuable?

anyone got an invite to interview yet? I think my application has been submitted, also a little confused about when it is complete or not. All I need to do is add a headshot, but I have everything else filled out. It looks like the past few years they have started sending out interview invites in early December.

SEO alum from this past summer as well! Happy to answer any questions people may have, on here or in PM. These forums helped me tremendously when applying to law school; would love to pay it forward.

Also in the throes of 1L, so forgive me for any slow responses! Good luck y'all!

Nope. Did you have all your information uploaded already? PS, schools applied to, etc?
yeah I do, on second glance I think the email was specifically about the seo edge program and not the law internship.

Probably not. Last year we didn't have to submit recs, even though that link was there.

Yeah I attended the webinar earlier this year and asked the same question. They said no letters of Rec are required

Hey guys checking in. This list is awesome - thank you! Can anyone comment on how we're supposed to research the firms for their specialties in the cities we're interested in? This was a point that was literally in bold print in the SEO Webinar presentation they hosted some weeks ago

Go to their respective websites. Do they have a lot of attorneys from the M and A group in Xyz city? If so, they probably have a focus on M and A in Xyz city. Many firms also advertise their recent big projects on their home page.

**please dont quote**

I'm pretty confused by the application for this, and I'm wondering if I am maybe looking the wrong application. Is the program that is always discussed on here "SEO career," or there another SEO program? I started an application for SEO career, and it is an extremely short application. Pretty much just name, school, gpa, and race. I didn't see any of the "academic info" or "interest and experience" tabs that others have discussed =/ Any insight is appreciated!

I had two Skype interviews with SEO last year. Ultimately didn't get an offer. Feel free to PM w/questions and whatnot (just don't expect a super quick response). Can't guarantee accuracy or relevancy for the coming cycle, of course.

Good luck all.

Do you guys know what the housing situation is for the summer? Does SEO cover the housing expenses or are SEO interns expected to secure/pay for their housing for the summer. I heard that this may vary from city to city. That NYC interns may have to figure out their own housing but other sites may be paid for by SEO

This was a question during the webinar. Everyone is responsible for their own housing no matter what city. The difference that comes into play is a one-week training session prior to the internship that SEO requires for all interns. NYC interns during the one-week session don't have housing provided for them (because SEO assumes they've secured housing for the rest of the summer); anyone that's not placed in NYC will have housing provided for by SEO for that one week but then they'll be responsible for securing their own housing in the city they get placed in. SEO tries to ease the process by providing info they've obtained regarding housing from previous intern classes and their own networks in the cities.

Also, you could just look at the news sections of some of the websites and see what they're consistently bragging about. That will give some (but not conclusive) indication of what their focus is.

From my interview last year, I think they asked me something like "which of our partner firms you're particularly interested in; why?" I mentioned one firm and gave a concrete reason for that interest, and the interrogation on that subject ended there. So I would bet no one is expecting you to be an expert on a ton of law firms' strengths and weaknesses.

And yeah, I got an offer, if thats worth anything.
