Re: 2010- 2011 URM Stats and Cycle - In /Out /WL
biracial AA/white
3.31/179
3 yrs WE
In:
Harvard (attending)
Chicago
Columbia
NYU
Michigan (full)
UVA (full)
Berkeley
Northwestern
Georgetown
Cornell
Texas
Withdrew from Duke, waitlisted at Stanford
PS: how working on the Obama campaign and then in DC led me to pursue a jd
LORs: 2, 1 academic and 1 employer
Thoughts: Study for the LSAT. Study for the LSAT. Study some more for the LSAT. Most adcomms weigh the LSAT at least equal to GPA, and for many it's weighted significantly higher. You've got to approach the LSAT as if it's more important than any test you've taken so far in your life, because if you want to get into a good law school, it probably is. Also, get those LORs together - this almost burned me, too, and was a lot harder than I thought it would be, particularly with a few years separating me from UG. Apply everywhere you can afford to apply - the worst thing that can happen is you get rejected, but the potential upside is pretty huge. Use TLS wisely - take advice where it's offered, but don't think that any particular person (or group, for that matter) is all-knowing. At the end of the day, we're not adcomms and we can only speculate as to what they're looking for.

I think most people's cycles are done at this point so there isn't a whole lot to post in this thread, other than updating if you got in off a waitlist.Manash wrote:this thread had potential... don't let it die.

I highly doubt 1 page reflects the URM In/Out/WL on TLS. Just an added motivator for those who haven't posted yet.whirledpeas86 wrote:I think most people's cycles are done at this point so there isn't a whole lot to post in this thread, other than updating if you got in off a waitlist.Manash wrote:this thread had potential... don't let it die.

AA Male
3.21 LSAC (3.31); 162 (153)
Applied 2/16/2011
3 years WE; decent softs
In:
Notre Dame (54k)
William & Mary (12k)
Georgia State
University of Maryland
(several lower ranked schools)
Waitlist:
Michigan
Duke
GULC (preferred waitlist)
Northwestern
UGA
Indiana
Emory
Out:
Chicago
Illinois
Advice:
Apply early. I applied after most deadlines like an ass. Plan to re-apply day one and crack the T-14. Any idea how high a score I'll need for HYS?

I would say you need at least a 170 with that GPA. But I could be wrong...egirarde wrote:AA Male

That's what I was thinking as well, but didn't know if a 170 would be enough...Alltheirsplendor wrote:I would say you need at least a 170 with that GPA. But I could be wrong...egirarde wrote:AA Male

Re: 2010- 2011 URM Stats and Cycle - In /Out /WL
To be honest, it might not. I would say with a 173+ you have a fighting chance, and as cryingmonkey's profile demonstrates HYS might bite.egirarde wrote:That's what I was thinking as well, but didn't know if a 170 would be enough...Alltheirsplendor wrote:I would say you need at least a 170 with that GPA. Just read they average LSAT scores. If that's the case, not even a 180 will do...Alltheirsplendor wrote:To be honest, it might not.
