Notre Dame was destroyed at OCI this year, and they're not going to get you to NYC anyway. If you want another school in that range that places well on the east coast, your best bet is GW or BU/BC. WUSTL is also working to improve its placement in NYC/DC, and I hear Romo is offering his apartment. Just sayin.dali wrote:why no notre dame? gulc is a good call, i have a family friend who went there for law & now does interviews for the undergrad program. i was thinking maybe drop wake/rutgers (brooklyn/gmu have no app fee) but i dont want to be overly ambitious and end up with no acceptances
Also, why not UVA? They hand those waivers out like candy.

idk im applying now, but i've dated a few girls in law school and they've all been ridiculously aggressive and pretty easy (at least physically speaking). they just, in my experience, attract attention to themselves and don't see the other side of an issue. not my cup of tea personally. i'd prefer a social work major or education major any day.

Well, they didn't send me a waiver! If they do, I will apply. Although I have an aversion to small Va towns, especially after 3 1/2 yrs in Williamsburg & living in Va for about 10yrs. Id really like to go somewhere new.UVa is a really good school though.

Check http://www.lawschoolnumbers.com and look where 160-170/sub3/URM's get accepted. For example, out of the T14 UVa and NU are the most friendly to sub 3's whereas UVa's peers, UMich and UPenn, admit almost no sub 3's. Keep in mind NU has an almost firm policy of at least 1 year of full time w/e.

Email them and ask for one. I guarantee they give it to you. Speaking of which, email all of these schools and request waivers. Makes the app process much more bearable.

I don't think that is a good enough reason to not apply to UVA. Per what i've learnt on here, what the city lacks in size, it more than makes up for it with the whole experience.

In retrospect, seems a little sexually suggestive. It was meant to make fun of the sausage fest comment. Whoops.

Nightrunner wrote:Dali, the truth is that a lot of places have nasty "under 3.0 need not apply" cutoffs. You seem to have valid reasons to addend, and perhaps this will make a difference, but some of your "reaches" are "leaps," and some of your "competitives" are "reaches."
Off the top of my head, I would say that Minnesota, Illinois, and Wisconsin are good places to add to your list. None are certain things (at all), but they showed me much love last cycle. (I was in a remarkably similar situation, both racially and numbers-wise. Feel free to PM me for more info).
Side note: I'm a fan of jokes, so I won't come down hard...but let's try to keep the URM forum remotely on topic, eh?

No but seriously, NR is right about UMN, UW, and UIUC. I'd also add WUSTL. They are generally pretty splitter friendly (especially UIUC and WUSTL) and they seem to give out more scholly money than some of their peers do to splitters.
Also, retake. A few more points would really do you wonders.

I agree. Given that it was a response to my post, I'm completely offended.dali wrote:you're sickbeachbum wrote:seespotrun wrote:ITT: All guys, except for the OP.

Re: Native American boost? 2.85/165
WUSTL is too regional. Same with most of those other midwest schools. If I'm going to be confined to a region I'd like for it to be on the east coast. I REALLY don't want to retake. I doubt I'd put any more effort into this time than last time, and the classes are too expensive. Also, I'd have to take the Dec test and the stress would interfere with the 10- day cruise I'm going on over thanksgiving
I'll swap ND w/ UVa & swap U Penn for GULC. If NYU is too outrageous maybe switch for Duke?
