Yeah, that was the last school I was waiting on. At least I can start really making decisions on where I'm going to be next year.lc39 wrote:jemthey17 wrote:Rejected at Yale. Sigh.![]()

rejected by Yale womp womp womp
Still waiting for Harvard and Stanford. No JS1 yet, but I'll take the radiosilence as a positive? Especially given the pretty large wave of rejections :/

Re: URM 2014-2015 Cycle Thread
Hang in there!!!!! Penn is the most notorious YP school of them all. Generally if you have a super strong profile like you and you don't write a Why Penn you're an almost auto-WL. There are very likely only 4-5 black males in THE ENTIRE APPLICANT POOL with your combination of LSAT and GPA. You'd have to have a serious C&F issue to not get HSCCN, and CCN with $$$$$. If you had that kind of issue, you would not have been admitted to any law school at all, but you've already gotten Georgetown, so that's moot. As other folks have said, schools know this and some don't even bother trying to pursue you because they know you'll just have too many better options, or they could be overextended on scholarship offers (feels a little early for this, but you never know).wheresthethesis wrote:Starting to worry about the letters.
Maybe I sounded pretentious in my PS.
Looks like I'm writing a LOCI or two
You must not lose your confidence or your faith.

He's pretty similar to you numbers wise (he took the LSAT 3x though, I don't think you have) and you see he got jacked around by several schools in the lower T14. But, homey is a 2L at HLS about to profit right now...

I still am mad at them for being so rough on everyone here, but I fully see it as a sign that you are all going to get equal or better options. Wheresthethesis--you are literally destined for greatness, shrug this one off. This thread is inspiring.

Congrats!!

This is interesting! I tailored mine around this theme of interdisciplinary studies! I wonder if that's why I snuck through the cracks. Lol. But also just as important, I don't have YP numbers either.Skool wrote:Wlee made it off of the waitlist last year at Penn. Respectable scholarship, even in July.

His advice for waitlisted people at penn:
Wlee wrote:Thanks. The only advice I can give is to write really good LOCIs that show your interest and emphasize their interdisciplinary learning. Penn really values their interdisciplinary learning opportunities so if there's something else you're interested in besides law that they offer mention it. I can't speak to the merits of calling/additional letters of rec/resume updates but I don't think it can hurt. I just didn't do much of that.

Congrats on all the good news! Condolences for the not-so-good new. =/
....but we made it to page 100! I think that calls for an URM Party!

(btw, I think that's LC getting tossed up in the air)

In at Columbia the other day! Tough decisions ahead.
Thanks so much for offering! If you don't mind me asking, were you considering any other schools next to Stanford? What ultimately was your "deciding factor"? And, to be a little bit more specific, were you considering schools with larger class sizes? If so, what ultimately led you to a school with a very small class size & how do you feel about that decision ~6 months in?isaiah1992 wrote:Stanford URM 1L here. Got the call from Stanford this morning... Still in massive shock. Was also awarded the Mordecai and a penn admission earlier this week. Friday the 13th has nothing on the cycle we've all been having!
Shoutout to all the acceptances I've missed out on in the last few weeks! Looking at the spreadsheet, we could all be held liable for the aggravated assault of this cycle.
