Yikes! I wish you a speedy recovery.FairchildFLT wrote:I've been out of contact due to a car crash so forgive me going back like four pages...DiniMae wrote:I posted this in the SEO thread, but does anyone plan to apply to the Dallas or Newport Beach firms?
I would definitely apply to Dallas. I put Houston as 1 and I think California as 2...but given a chance I would prefer Dallas to CA.
So are you going to update your preferences then to Dallas as #2? I wonder from where else other than UT are TX firms willing to take recruit students? SLS? The TX market seems so closed off.....?

Re: URM 2014-2015 Cycle Thread
I def think that Chicago as a city has a lot to offer, which is why it's on my school list. Call me crazy but I applied by cities I like and schools that had a flourishing IP program. That's it (pretty simple). Northwestern is on my list because of AJD (Why can't everyone have an AJD option???) And then of course, Chicago is a great all around school with a small class size(but I haven't been admitted yet)......So we shall see.wsag826 wrote:Thanks and congrats to you too!! Yes I did get Chicago the other day and still havent recovered. I absolutely want to go to school in Chicago. It's a big city but not as dizzying as NYC or sprawled out as LA. And I think the quality of life is just so great there. If I'm going to spend the next three years of my life in a book, might as well do it with a good view?DiniMae wrote:Congrats! I just got in the other day. Are you thinking of going to school in the Chicago area? You had Chi too the other day right?wsag826 wrote:IN at Northwestern today!!! *Dead*
Congrats to all. Said this before and will say it again re: UVA (and Michigan): they are not in positions to accept each and every qualified out of state candidate, even though we all know LC is probably among the most qualified candidates they've received applications from. As a result, I think you see weirder denials from both because they have in-state considerations to make.
This whole process is both frightening and fascinating. But that's why it makes so much sense to cast a wide net and blanket the T14 if possible, I guess. And UCLA, UT, Vandy, and WUSTL if one can afford it. Truly never know what's going to happen.
Only thing I'm slightly unsure about is placement into DC when compared to other non-YHS T14s.
I'm certain I'll end up in Chicago if not for YHS (I'd also consider Columbia, albeit a little bit hesitantly because of COL). But Northwestern today absolutely is a curve ball and I'll have to really weigh the two against each other to see which one is a better fit.
How about you?

Ugh, that sucks and they suck. You should write them a long vituperative screed when that thread pops up a little later on where TLSers bash schools that did us wrong.Tr3 wrote:And first ding of the cycle! Harvard denied me again.
I've got a little list of schools I'm ready to call out myself...

Thanks y'all. (Aside from having low numbers for H) I suspect Harvard just hates me since I have a (not real) grudge against them for being the only UG to straight up reject me, and they had the audacity to accept my boyfriend. We broke up. Lol

I'm going next year 99.9% sure. I have a couple full ride opportunities, and I'm not biglaw or bust. I have things lined up after school, I was just entertaining the idea of going to one of the T14 and possibly giving biglaw a shot. Who knows where I'll be, but i'll be in school somewhere.cc78 wrote:On this point, what's your plan DW?
