I haven't seen a ton of info either so idk.Dream_weaver32 wrote:I don't think there is anyway NA gets any bigger bump than AA. Just based on what I've seen on here and LSN. But then again it's been hard to find any solid information about NA cycles.lc39 wrote:I have heard NA > AA > PR > MA.
Cubans are fairly overrepresented in higher ed, right? Anecdote: I feel like almost every Latin@ I knew in undergrad was (white) Cuban.

Wait, do they have a separate app aside from NeedAccess and FAFSA?cc78 wrote:Okay, random thought...I feel a little annoyed with NYU right now. I played around with the application, and I don't think you're required to answer this question. I'm interested to see what's offered as a baseline without putting any of my cards on the table.cc78 wrote:Okay, random thought...I feel a little annoyed with NYU right now. Not that I know of...I also ignored the "other law schools you're considering" question on NeedAccess because I felt like it.Tr3 wrote:Wait, do they have a separate app aside from NeedAccess and FAFSA?cc78 wrote:Okay, random thought...I feel a little annoyed with NYU right now. Congrats, Jem....and I hope you're right, LC...after YLS does it's thing I'll be done with the waiting game.
The first round of dings came out end of February last year, so sadly, our next word from Yale might be the wrong word

Gracias. I wasn't sure if I wanted to list them or not. Originally I didn't want to, but then I decided to in case some lower ranked schools decide to give me more money based on my other acceptances (I have no clue if this will work or not... we'll see).lc39 wrote:Not that I know of...I also ignored the "other law schools you're considering" question on NeedAccess because I felt like it.Tr3 wrote:Wait, do they have a separate app aside from NeedAccess and FAFSA?cc78 wrote:Okay, random thought...I feel a little annoyed with NYU right now. They do, indeed have a separate app for those who want to be considered for merit aid, but don't want to provide parental financial information. I'm over 30 and I'm just not asking my mom for her financial information as if she has any obligation whatsoever to help me. SYH (why not try something different?) each free you from parent contribution in calculating need-aid once you are older than 29, as does Penn, so frankly, I ain't giving it to anyone (looking at you, CLS and NYU). Not to mention, trying to track down my shiftless father at this point in my life is the definition of laughable.Tr3 wrote:Wait, do they have a separate app aside from NeedAccess and FAFSA?cc78 wrote:Okay, random thought...I feel a little annoyed with NYU right now. But nah, I feel you on the parent info. I'm under 30 and it's annoying, so being 30+ it's just ridiculous.

I hear ya. What's worse for us working folks is that they calculate this income once for all 3 years (CLS). My EFC is ridiculous to be applied across all three years for 1 year of work (DARN that bonus being deposited on Dec 31 -- should've slacked off).Tr3 wrote:Oh ok. First ding of the cycle--got a rejection from Mich which was sad because they really do have a beautiful campus.
In happier news UR2 at Penn and NYU since last week, I'm excited for both schools so keep your fingers crossed for me. This thread has been so helpful and uplifting and I'm rooting for all of you!

Oh my stars, are you sure about this? That doesn't make any sense, because you won't have any income while you're in school. I know Stanford takes any total expected contribution and divides it by 3, which makes sense to me.DiniMae wrote:

Cycle thus far:
1/10 acceptances
1/10 WLs
8/10 unreplied
I have a feeling Cornell will WL me as well. Why would Berkeley take me and UCLA WL me? It makes no sense, since it appears Berkeley is more selective.

Well, Berkeley is a black box. Sometimes that works out well, other times not, but every time you can't be 100% sure what they are going to do. Cornell tends to be more predictable and they telegraph their YP strategies (the dreaded robot interview), so I am hoping you have a good reason to think they are going to WL you, otherwise you're causing yourself needless stress.Oskosh wrote:Cycle thus far:

Probably just unneeded stress haha. I've gone through the status change process, but have yet to hear from them. So I have grown slightly timid.cc78 wrote:Well, Berkeley is a black box. I hate to come off as pretentious, but its just a blow to the self-esteem to be WLd by UCLA. I was hoping they would offer me money so I could leverage. But I know sometimes some schools are erratic in their admissions decisions, and I've seen somebody WL by UMinn when they were accepted to some top schools (including Harvard). Sometimes I dislike the law school application process very much hahaha.
