If anyone has any questions about UChicago, feel free to PM me. Obviously, I can't answer admissions questions or employment questions, but I'm available to discuss the culture of the school and my experiences as a 1L.

WHAT?!!!! OMG I visited Chicago for 2 weeks in August and thought it was the coldest thing in life. I wore a sweatshirt or jacket wherever I went. At night, I was FREEZING! OMG........Lake Michigan felt like liquid ice -- I couldn't go in past my calf and that was after 30 minutes of painfully slow wading.jemthey17 wrote:I don't either. Would certainly be nice to go to school with some of you lovely people.cc78 wrote:Jem, I have nothing better to do, and I have a vested self interest. I DO NOT want to be alone out there.
Regarding weather, isn't Stanford kind of cold? Like, it doesn't get Chicago cold during the winter, but Chicago is hot, hot, hot during the summer. I've heard the bay area is pretty chilly during the summer.
DC in summer is muggy, stifling, humid, icky weather. And it's in the 100s in June, July, and August. So Chi-Town felt like October to me. OMG......I can't stop thinking about Lake Michigan....And people were jet skiing like it was warm. OMG........
But the food, events, nightlife, music scene -- everything was so much fun!!! I could definitely go to school there. I just can't swim in the lake. OMG I'm still thinking about how cold that water was.

I grew up near lake Michigan and let me tell you...it doesn't matter if it's 100 degrees outside, that water stays ICE cold. This aint Miami.

I lived in Chicago for two years and its winter is so brutal that I barely wanted to leave the house some days. I was not at all surprised when in my UChi interview I was asked about my experience with the Chicago winter.DiniMae wrote: But the food, events, nightlife, music scene -- everything was so much fun!!! Man, all this winter talk scares me. Been in southern FL for the last few years so even 50F feels ice cold. Chicago or MI winters could be fatal...

Hahaha! They asked about that?? Does this really play into retention? Hmmmm..... I was stationed in Great Lakes from Oct-May and That wind felt like needles on my face (I almost bought one of those face masks). Unsure of how that compares to a HLS or YLS winter.cc78 wrote:I lived in Chicago for two years and its winter is so brutal that I barely wanted to leave the house some days. Geez CC lives in Atlanta. I sure could've used your LSAT wits. ^^^Good luck! I think that I have zero advice regarding the LSAT. I studied for 5 weeks while working a full-time job. I realize my score in TLS land is an embarrassment, but I was pretty pleased taking all things into account.

LOL, the lake is always cold. But Chicago summers get really hot and humid. Usually high 80s to low 90s for a while.DiniMae wrote:WHAT?!!!! It's nice to me. My parents live where it's 90-110 all summer and that's too hot for me.jemthey17 wrote:LOL, the lake is always cold. But Chicago summers get really hot and humid.
