Smaller class size.jemthey17 wrote:Why S above H?
Kind of. None of my reasons really fit TLS thinking (and they sound a bit silly even to me). I know a couple of people from Stanford and they're both terrible + my old boss went to Stanford Law and said he didn't really enjoy it. The culture seems to be quite biglaw/IP focused rather than theory/international affairs, which are my main interests. Lastly I just really want to spend three years living in an actual city, and I don't drive. These things combined meant that Stanford just never appealedcc78 wrote:This is interesting...is it a west coast thing?alloverthat wrote:Well I didn't apply to S, but I probably would have taken either Columbia or NYU over S with equal money if I was faced with the decision. Just a personal preferencecc78 wrote:Agreed. YHS change the calculus big time. It's just hard for me to see anyone taking CCN(P) over YHS at equal money and still hard for me to see anyone taking CCN over YHS for anything other than free. I'd love to hear the thoughts of someone who sees things differently.ballcaps wrote: it's hard to be completely diligent about maximizing every outcome after getting into H(YS for you haha)

CC, S needs to hire you to recruit. You are putting in work, lol.cc78 wrote:Jem, just give in...S>H.lc39 wrote:Smaller class size.jemthey17 wrote:Why S above H?
S has a higher biglaw + clerkship percentage, and its clerkship % itself is pretty amazing (29.4%).
Fortunately, for most folks' goals, they are virtually interchangeable.
Sadly, I've lived in the south for so long (yes, we have seasons, but it never gets soul-crushingly cold) that I have turned into a weather wimp. I sit and wonder how so many folks can even bear to go to class when its so cold!alloverthat wrote:Finally: how are you expecting to study when it's warm all the time. Sounds like a nightmare
I don't either. Would certainly be nice to go to school with some of you lovely people.cc78 wrote:Jem, I have nothing better to do, and I have a vested self interest. I DO NOT want to be alone out there.
CONGRATS!!!! When did you go complete?90convoy wrote:guess who just got a JS1? yup meeeeeeee so happy

Calling LC! She knows for sure. But as someone who's just visited, I think that the area of the bay that Stanford is in basically has a static climate of nice weather. San Francisco itself has a microclimate that will kick your behind in the summer, if I'm not mistaken. But, I noticed literally driving across the bay to Oakland changed things weatherwise significantly.jemthey17 wrote:I don't either. Regarding weather, isn't Stanford kind of cold? Like, it doesn't get Chicago cold during the winter, but Chicago is hot, hot, hot during the summer. I've heard the bay area is pretty chilly during the summer.
I really enjoy your avatargamerish wrote:I'm not applying until next cycle but were I lucky enough to get admitted to both, I could definitely see myself taking S over H. I like the smaller class size, the grading policy, the location and the idea of BigLaw in SV appeals to me (my career goals vary by school though so even if I decided I didn't want SV I'd probably still take S).jemthey17 wrote:Why S above H?
Schools in order of my preference are Yale > Stanford > Harvard > Columbia/NYU/Penn > everywhere else. I wouldn't be able to turn down an offer from Yale regardless of what other options were on the table for me - if I got Y, I'd deposit there the next day (so keep an eye out for my app, Asha :3).
Thanks a millionjemthey17 wrote:Sure, I can look it over. PM me.janelle14 wrote:hi guys

True, true, but when ol' boy lost his fastball he really lost it:gamerish wrote:Thanks. Marlon Brando was a god amongst men.
I think it's pretty damn warm in the summer - like 80 degrees? Totally different climate than SF, which does get chilly.jemthey17 wrote:I don't either.
