I'd imagine Marine JAG would put you in a really good spot to get AUSA if you were absolutely determined to avoid biglaw.

Once we start talking about AUSA, though, we get into the unicorn zone. 400 applicants for one spot in a flyover state? Heh.

Exactly. It's kind of dumb to even talk about as a 0L. It requires a tremendous amount of luck to even get in the running.

I mean, I think it's totally great to have goals. And that's really why I am talking about wanting to be an AUSA. I know the likelihood is slim but that doesn't mean I won't try to put myself in the best position to get there.

According to the c/o 2015 profile I'm above GPA median and only one point above the 25% LSAT. So it's kind of a shot in the wind. But I'll see.

I could see that. I thought we had agreed that URM cycles are unpredictable, are accepted later than non-URM applicants, and that ED means little to no money.

Anyway, I thought I should come out, as it were. I've been lurking, but clearly you all are too cool for me to just sit back and watch--I want to get in on the fun. And the dance parties which will clearly be going down as we all get our acceptances.

To introduce myself: biracial AA female, 3.5/179, UG not an Ivy but may as well've been. Pretty much blanketing the T14, intending to go to whichever gives me the most $$$. Want to work in-house for tech companies or VCs, so gunning for SF biglaw with every intent on bailing after 4 - 5yrs because I prefer to work some vague semblance of reasonable hours, thank-you-very-much.

No, it's not that the t14s aren't accepting me, don't worry. I haven't sent out applications. Everyone was just giving me suggestions based on what I want specifically. Which is $$$ and to stay in DC.
