I have seen that. Decisions are rolling, which could conceivably mean that your chances change as the cycle (if you will) goes on - which, again, is why I posed my question. Thanks for your help, though.

Depositing at a school requires that you withdraw all acceptances from other schools. If you are still pending or on a waitlist you are not required to withdraw, this comes directly from the lsac ethical guides. I don't have the link right now but I'll add it in a few.

So the question for you becomes how much do you value that 600 dollars you could potentially lose if you do get into NYU? I agree with you about rolling desicions, the fact that admissions have started means the longer we wait now to deposit the lower our chances become of getting in. I actually deposited today because of that. However my choice was easier because I actually don't think I will get into the school I'm waiting on.

Man, $600 is a lot to me. Do I contact NYU and explain my situation - and for a speedy decision (obviously phrased better than this)? or is that basically asking for a WL/Rejection? I'd assume they have me on their fence, but it's mid-April, I don't understand how it's taken this long.

I'm not really sure, I don't see why they would penalize you for asking, but I also think they might just shrug it off "the admissions process takes a long time and when we are ready we will notify you of a decision" type of reply. I haven't tried though. As an aside, why do you want NYU over Chicago?

It'll be a lot cheaper (though I received a modest scholarship from Chicago). I'd assume I could get NYU to match Chicago (but it's late so maybe not, who knows), but as a NY native, there are a lot of others costs I would avoid (living expenses, food even) that will significantly reduce how much I'd have to pay upon graduation. So yeah, pretty much for that reason and that reason alone.

I know that people have emailed asking for a decision due to scholarship deadlines and they basically said, "You're going to have to wait. Sorry, not sorry"

According to the Webinar, decisions are not rolling.

Could you link me to this please if you can?! Thanks!

Their website says interviews are on a rolling basis. Doesn't necessarily mean that my chances change, but it very likely does means that my chances change, since I assume there's a finite number of SEO spots to fill. I'd assume the same for acceptances too. but please link me to the webinar if you have it! Greatly appreciated.

I can't I don't have the link anymore. Their website does say it's on a rolling basis but she said something along the lines of the law program being so small they don't do it on a rolling basis.

But I would agree with you. Obviously as spots are given out, there are less to go around.

I have no idea for sure and could be completely wrong in thinking this, but I feel like their decision on an applicant is mostly complete after the interview. They have our numbers and in many cases what schools we already got into so I'm sure the decision is made way before deposit deadlines. They probably just wait until deposit deadlines to make sure that the applicant is actually committed to go to law school and your school choice may influence their decision if you were a candidate on the margin.

Though I don't have proof of this either, what you're saying does make a ton of sense and I am kinda inclined to believe it.

So those not picked up in the first batch probably have a very slim chance of getting picked up now...especially if we haven't deposited yet...I really hate my cycle.

Anyone else think we'll see another wave this week? If so, NYC or other region placements?

After uploading the proof of deposit to the application, do we need to do anything else...just wait for a decision now?

Does anyone know if SEO will do expedited decisions? I've got another job offer I dont want to lose in case SEO dings me, but I would MUCH RATHER spend the summer working at an SEO firm. On the other hand, I worry that if I tell them I am considering another offer they might just reject me anyway.

Has anyone reading done this before with SEO?

It should be fine if you ask for an expedition request, especially since they already started handing out offers. Having another exploding offer is a legitimate reason for the request and they're not going to hold it against you.
