I am prepping for a retake in December as well. I am in the high 160's and looking to consistently hit the 170's. Once I take the exam, I will be posting in here and the lounge fairly often.sashafierce wrote:Congrats on the acceptance jnlx. I'm not sure about the Diversity Statement but you should check the last cycle thread, I remember reading a few helpful post about that.
I feel like the thread from last year was wayyyy more active than this one, we need to keep the thread active guysIs anyone prepping for December? I'm stuck in the low 160s trying my best to get out of that hole.
Ic39, congrats that's a solid score!

Just got readmitted to Duke! Now I know I have a great option no matter what, so I feel like I can relax and just enjoy the rest of the cycle.

Congrats on the acceptance LSATneurotic!
So I'm having a "should I write a Diversity Statement dilemma". I have a really unique background but I am super weird about people knowing about it even if it's some random Admission Officer. IRL, I have very very close friends that know absolutely nothing about my background.
Is it weird that I'm feeling weird about writing about my background, especially since it's something that I rarely ever talk about?
Edit: TMI

I empathize with your reticence, but at the end of the day, does it really matter? It's not like ten years from now when you've moved on to your career you're going to be worried about some adcom's intimate knowledge of your past.sashafierce wrote:Congrats on the acceptance LSATneurotic!

In addition, if you have a unique story to tell, then it's worth telling adcoms. Who knows? It could be the tipping point that gets you into a reach school. Adding more to your story, in terms of diversity in your applications shouldn't hurt you. If anything, as previously stated, it should help you.sashafierce wrote:You are right, it's uncomfortable but whatever!LSATneurotic wrote:I empathize with your reticence, but at the end of the day, does it really matter? Newbie here. I'm prepping for December and still have a ton of work to do. On a daily basis I go back and forth between feeling like 9 weeks is FOREVER to keep up my study regimen, and wishing I had more time. I've been avoiding TLS like the plague because reading about everyone who is done with the LSAT just makes me insanely jealous.

K-JDs get in! They value work experience a bit more than other schools so it can help. If you are a K-JD I'd still apply because they can be very generous with merit scholarship money.

It never hurts to throw an app their way...I think it's something like 10% of their class is K-JD, idk if this is true of last year's classcanadianbrother wrote:Northwestern needs works experience right? So no point in applying as K-JD

Re: URM 2014-2015 Cycle Thread
I haven't submitted yet (holding out hope that I grab a fee waiver in the next CRS go-round) but I'm not sending a DS to any schools. My PS talks about my family/background so I felt that was sufficient.90convoy wrote:Anyone here send UChi a diversity statement?
If I was writing a DS, I'd send it to UChi.
From their FAQ:
May I submit a diversity statement or “Why Chicago” essay?
You may, but please do so only when they are important to your application. Please remember that you want to be concise and genuine.
We believe that the personal statement is a wonderful place to discuss any aspects of your background (e.g., racial, ethnic, or religious identification, socioeconomic status, sexual orientation, etc.) that are significant to you. If you find that you cannot include these topics in your personal statement, you may submit an additional diversity statement.
If there are genuine and informed reasons why you are particularly interested in studying law at Chicago, you are welcome to discuss them in an additional essay.
