We will all be independent students in FAFSA's eyes (unless you're requested to include parental info anyway, like UVA and Berkeley do) because we have/will have completed our bachelor's. NeedAccess still requires parental info (depends on the school, some stop requiring it after a certain age) and it doesn't change for military/marriage/kids - except that you need to include your spouse's financial info as well.FairchildFLT wrote:Dini you're a vet so I assume you don't live at home anymore...so you shouldn't need your parents information. I think military, marriage, or kids means you're an adult in FAFSAs eyes.DiniMae wrote:Is there a point in filling this out if you and/or parents make a decent living? I think I'm going to have trouble getting my parent info.Wahrheit wrote:I totally jumped on these as early as I could. FAFSA Jan 1, NeedAccess on the 17th - only was that late because I had to email my mom multiple times before she finally filled it out. Ugh.Tr3 wrote:Ahh congrats for all the great news ITT!!!!
On another note... just submitted FAFSA and NeedAccess! NA sucks. Come on, I just want some money from one of these schools! lol ...but actually...
It's the little victories

Maybe I'm misunderstanding the question, but I have never had to put my parents information into FAFSA.

Right - but I'm saying that doesn't necessarily apply to NeedAccess (a separate form that is required by many schools in addition to the FAFSA).FairchildFLT wrote:Maybe I'm misunderstanding the question, but I have never had to put my parents information into FAFSA.

Agreed. I've never applied for NeedAccess, I've only done the FAFSA, so I have no idea.lc39 wrote:Right - but I'm saying that doesn't necessarily apply to NeedAccess (a separate form that is required by many schools in addition to the FAFSA).FairchildFLT wrote:Maybe I'm misunderstanding the question, but I have never had to put my parents information into FAFSA.

Most definitely. There are also diversity spots. But I can imagine the first question asked on the first day is "how'd you get here". I'm really speaking out my behind at this point.lc39 wrote:There are write-on spots on Harvard's, no?cc78 wrote:Oh, here's belated #7: You don't have to grade onto the Stanford Law Review, like you do in perhaps the most competitive thing in the world of law school, grading onto the Harvard Law Reviewlc39 wrote: You're right, and I've never had the opportunity to judge HLS/other schools in the same way so I can't really compare them either. I think ultimately all schools are stressful and maybe you're right that Stanford is less so. Stanford's small size gives it the edge over HLS in many respects, and I'd consider the reduced gunner-ness/competition a side effect of that. There are more spots available (not only jobs but journals, leadership positions in student orgs, etc.) relative to the number of students and I think that goes a long way towards reducing competition.![]()

And sadly, folks like me have to care about getting onto Law Review.

I have to say, guys, that without this thread, I wouldn't have a single positive feeling about going to law school. Everywhere else it looks like the worst decision and the worst thing on this planet Earth.
Congrats again to everyone who has been killing it and good luck to those of us still waiting for schools.
I'm going to go ahead and withdraw from Michigan and Duke, because they obviously aren't in any hurry to even give me a decision (I've been complete since September 4th with both).

Re: URM 2014-2015 Cycle Thread
I've been really fortunate in that everyone around me is really positive about my decision to go to law school, including my employer. I will say that it has been great being a member of this thread, though. You all give me hope that the positivity won't end when I go off to law school and that I will be surrounded by amazing, interesting and driven people.cc78 wrote:I have to say, guys, that without this thread, I wouldn't have a single positive feeling about going to law school. Is there a deadline to apply to seo?
Need access? FAFSA? Or can one wait for acceptances before doing so?
