It look me minutes to apply to schools since I had my personal statement, and my diversity statement pretty much fell into all optional/supplemental essay categories. It was only about $380 to apply to all of them. LSAC fee waivers waive a bunch of law school reports also. Everyone I know with the fee waiver did about 30 last cycle, I thought this was normal

Re: 2011 - 2012 URM Application Cycle
Yea, I can see that. It's probably more normal for someone who isn't sure where they want to go, and wants to see where they will get in to help them make a decision. I don't see anything wrong with it! Especially if you quickly withdraw from schools you're sure you wouldn't go to.Champion wrote:It look me minutes to apply to schools since I had my personal statement, and my diversity statement pretty much fell into all optional/supplemental essay categories. Might as well throw my hat in
AA Male
~3.1 GPA / 170 LSAT
Applying:
Columbia
NYU
Michigan
Berkeley (lawl)
Georgetown
Chicago
Got fee waivers from Cornell / UT austin I was thinking about applying to, but I don't really want to go to either of them. I might try them simply to see if I can get some money from them, but at the same time I feel like it'd be kind of fucked to take someone's "spot", not that admissions really works this way. Looking at some of your lists makes me think I should just not really care and blanket more schools, but I couldn't really see myself at any schools outside of those 6, so I'm finding it hard to justify spending the extra money, outside of the potential to leverage $$.

UT is probably not needed, but apply to Cornell. You can use any offer they give you as leverage against say GT if they aren't very interested in giving you a $, as they are peer schools. You can shoot all the schools in the t14 an email and they will be more than happy to give a fee waiver, save the big three.hyakku wrote:Might as well throw my hat in

Yeah it does. Thats what she said today on the phone. I think its mailed separately and you should receive it some days after the acceptance package.
Congrats!

Re: 2011 - 2012 URM Application Cycle
That's what I was thinking. It's weird, I emailed them originally because my LSAT scores came Late, and a good amount said I wasn't qualified, but this week I've already gotten two from Texas and Cornell (after they just told me no), and Columbia (they gave me one for need based but when I went to pay it was waived). I'm also considering northwestern, but I'm only applying if Ive got fee waivers. I could see myself at NU,but Im not really willing to drop another $100 to find out.Rawlberto wrote:UT is probably not needed, but apply to Cornell. Re: 2011 - 2012 URM Application Cycle
First of all I'd like to congratulate everyone who has gotten decisions and has shared their stats. I'm not a high scoring urm (unfortunately choked on a reading section) but I'm going to throw myself in.
3.28, 158 M/A Male
Applied with few waivers to:
Duke
Vanderbilt
University of Minnesota
University of Illinois
University of Wisconsin
University of California, Irvine
Tulane
And a few tier two schools
Good luck to everyone else, hopefully we all have great cycles.

I echo the sentiment that y'all are quite impressive!! We're going to be a force in law school!
AA female, 3.96 Ivy, 167... semi-unusual DS, had fun with PS. (I say, at least I can have fun with the PS, regardless of whether the admissions offices like it:))
Pretty much done applying... As fas as I can recall, I've applied to:
UT-Austin (in)
Duke (in)
Harvard
Columbia
Chicago
Indiana
WashU
Georgetown
Penn
UVA
Michigan
William and Mary
Cornell
LSU
Vandy
Emory
USC
Maybe coming later: Yale, NYU.

Any one who applied around 11/4 RD have any decisions yet?
Applied to Yale, Harvard, Stanford, Columbia, Chicago, NYU, Duke, Michigan, Virginia, UPenn, Berkeley, UCLA and no word yet
I'm just super impatient I guess.

You should hear from UCLA and Berkeley soon (this week or next). maybe Michigan. I don't think people who applied around the time you did have heard back.FryBreadPower wrote:Any one who applied around 11/4 RD have any decisions yet?
