Congrats DW! You are still breathing!
About the poll....why is there such an apparent drop in willingness to pay sticker after HYS? I mean CCN have pretty much identical biglaw placement. Is this a prefstige thing?

My guess is that for Col. and NYU at least, you probably have Cornell as an option that provides only a marginally weaker shot at biglaw (NYC) and comes at a substantial discount.90convoy wrote:Congrats DW! You are still breathing!

I assumed it was because LRAP at HYS (Particularly Y) blows the others' out of the water.90convoy wrote:Congrats DW! You are still breathing!

This was my reasoning. Not gunning for biglaw.lc39 wrote:I assumed it was because LRAP at HYS (Particularly Y) blows the others' out of the water.90convoy wrote:Congrats DW! You are still breathing!

So if one is set on biglaw and not assumed to get much need aid, then paying sticker is probably equally as undesirable of an outcome among the t-6. Anything else would just be a matter of personal preference, location, and prestige right?

I think the HYS sticker preference is definitely a preftige thing.
Congrats to DW on the Cornell Reserve & congrats to everyone in at Columbia!

At equal cost, HYS > CCN even for biglaw. The thing is, it usually won't be at equal cost. HYS admits are scholly candidates at CCN (typically, not always), and that would by far be the better choice. Or even $$$ at a lower T14.90convoy wrote:So if one is set on biglaw and not assumed to get much need aid, then paying sticker is probably equally as undesirable of an outcome among the t-6. All of the above is my personal opinion.

If only JS and Oprah were friends and I were sitting in the audience on the day that JS is a guest.

Edit: whoa, this gif hurts my head.
Edit2: replaced the gif with one that doesn't hurt my head

I saw this gif for the first time earlier today and I wonder how it managed to not be in my life for so long.Wahrheit wrote:Any time someone posts an Oprah gif, this must also be posted:

Re: URM 2014-2015 Cycle Thread
Let's evaluate the success of my predictions!
NU and Cornell I get partial credit for. NU had a small wave on Tuesday, not Wednesday. And Cornell still hasn't mailed me my letter/packet/whatever they send to admits.lc39 wrote:Predictions for next week:
Yale: ???
Harvard: Lol, what is H even up to. I'll predict Tues calls because I feel optimistic.
Stanford: End of the week calls maybe.
Columbia: First admits mailed out??
Chicago: Please do another wave. Please.
NYU: Continues to be the most reliable and speedy of the T6, nobody is stressing over their NYU app hopefully.
Penn: Decision Friday, I guess.
UVA: Please send me my waitlist so I can admit you hate me and move on.
Berkeley: Dings for the people not pushed to FR?
Michigan: Idk, Michigan's cool. More admits and more money. Hopefully they send out registration info for ASW.
Duke: More weird YP priority reserve, probably more PT acceptances. Everyone not PT grows ever more impatient and resentful, vows to attend Mich/NU instead.
NU: Decision Wednesday? Give the people what they want. Particularly LC. Give me what I want.
Cornell: Maybe my letter will finally get to my place? I was admitted over a month ago, lol. More weird robot interviews and more acceptances inevitably.
Anyone else have thoughts/predictions? Will Harvard have a class of 50 students this year? Only time will tell!
xoxo LC

Some pretty good predictions!lc39 wrote:Let's evaluate the success of my predictions!
(btw, when you get your cornell package, take the letter out and set it aside right away--*don't* put it back in the box. I put it back down and it got stuck to the tape of the package and then ripped

Re: URM 2014-2015 Cycle Thread
I believe it's never coming. I actually requested over a week ago that it be re-sent because I never got the first one (admitted 12/17). I know it doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things but I've been giving all my acceptance letters to my parents and so it'd be nice to have the complete set.Tr3 wrote:Some pretty good predictions!lc39 wrote:Let's evaluate the success of my predictions!
