Dinged at Columbia today (or as they say, I did not receive a favorable action). Given the way things have been going lately I'm not too surprised, I haven't had any good news since early February it's been all waitlists and rejections since then. I still have four schools to hear back from but I'm not expecting good news from them either, at best a waitlist.

Waitlisted at Penn today! With 4 rejections over the past week and a half it was a pretty nice surprise. I only live about 25 minutes from campus so I'll wait this one out as long as I need to.

Nice! That's a good wait list to be on. I'll personally be riding it out for as long as I can... Penn is one of my top choices.Psib337 wrote:Waitlisted at Penn today! I actually regret not applying to Penn, I always wanted to attend it for undergrad, but had an issue with my application so I never sent it in, instead I was somewhere else in the state and absolutely miserable. It is for that reason I resisted the urge to apply to Penn. 3 years of hell in PA was enough to deter me from a great school (although I would've had little to no shot to get in anyways).PRgradBYU wrote:Nice! If it's any consolation, a lot of us that applied didn't have a great shot... they've been wait-listing people left and right this cycle. I grew up in PA so I'm pointedly biased, but from what I can tell, people in different cities have dramatically different experiences. It's definitely not for everyone!Dmini7 wrote:I actually regret not applying to Penn, I always wanted to attend it for undergrad, but had an issue with my application so I never sent it in, instead I was somewhere else in the state and absolutely miserable. That is what all my Philly friends say, but it wasn't the people so much as the institution, so I know I am holding an unfair grudge, but I figure its time to try something newPRgradBYU wrote:If it's any consolation, a lot of us that applied didn't have a great shot... they've been wait-listing people left and right this cycle. I know what you mean. I visited Chicago a few years ago as well. I didn't care for the school either. I am going to apply just so I can use them in any potential negotiations. Northwestern was cool as fuck though. I wish NU was more highly ranked. I was on NU's campus when President Obama was getting inaugurated as POTUS. I will never forget that day. The entire room of NU Law students went into pandemonium.Aporia88 wrote:Thanks for the confidence! I highly doubt you've missed any JS1 trains. I have the same complete date and a much weaker LSAT and got a JS1 earlier this week. High GPAs are much easier to find than URM 173 LSATs. I agree w/JRR, patience will bear fruit.
Out of curiosity, why no Chicago? You've got NU and M on your list, so you're clearly not averse to Chicago or the midwest.
As for Chicago, I visited a friend there a couple years back and the whole school kind of rubbed me the wrong way. Since then I could never really picture myself being happy there, but in retrospect, I probably should have shot them an application anyway.![]()
edit: And congrats to PR and Man on the acceptances and GW on the JS1! Maybe they're not done shooting off interview requests after all.

D where were you that you didn't like it?
I only applied because they sent me a fee waiver. I've lived about 20 minutes from Penn my whole life and never considered applying because it always seemed so far out of reach and everyone I know who went there has been ridiculously smart. Even when I was taking a LSAT class down the street from the law school my thought was, "Well, at least I got to go to Penn for something other than to see a doctor."

I was WL by Penn not too long ago, but I will be rooting for all you guys waiting on Penn to get in. I pulled myself off the waitlist so I am hoping it pushes you guys a little bit closer to an admit call.
