Re: URM 2013-2014 Cycle Thread
So Im all finished with the fee waiver portion.
Unsolicited:
UVA
NYU
U Penn
Chicago
Duke
Solicitied:
W&M
GULC
GW
And UNC told me they only give need based.
Pretty sure I'll only be applying to UVA, NYU, Duke, and then all of my solicited ones.

Did you solicit G-town based on numbers or financial need?

Re: URM 2013-2014 Cycle Thread
I've been thinking of throwing together a google doc that all the active URMs in this section could list their stats, race, ec, w/e, etc -- much like the OCI thread in the legal employment section. People could post their username if they'd like or they could simply post their stats to remain anonymous. We could send the spreadsheet amongst ourselves in PMs to remain anonymous.
Would you guys be willing to contribute your information once acceptances start rolling in?
The goal would be to ultimately help future URMs. I feel like LSN has too much anti-AA trolling and incomplete information.

I think I'm going to write my whole Personal Statement over. The more I read it, the more I hate it.

I completely rewrote mine and am much happier with the result now. Sucks but if you feel stuck it may be worth it.

Re: URM 2013-2014 Cycle Thread
Right now i've narrowed apps down to 8 with 6 of them top 14. (based on schools I would actualluy attend) fee waiver to each school.
I have waivers from ucla, texas, and chicago that may force me to send extra apps but I am trying to keep it as small as possible.

I don't think I post enough to be considered an "active URM" but I'm in.

It's a legitimate anti URM bias! I saw a user named "Underachieving URM" or something along those lines with a 2.0 and a 135 reporting Harvard accepts. I was pretty disturbed...
I'll do it. Anything to help the community

Great. I'll get it together sometime in the next couple months. I'll wait to send it around until most people start hearing back from schools.
