Mayimbe wrote:So I finally got a response from CLEO. I'm from NY and I know some of you from NY have been just as anxious as I have so thought you guys would like to hear that responses ARE being distributed. They somewhat "deferred" me. Let me explain. I sent my CLEO application back in November but hadn't completed my law school applications until late december (I know very stupid of me). So there response was "Unfortunately, at this time we are unable to offer you a seat in the 2009 CLEO Summer Institute. However, in March we will send your name to the Cleo member schools and supporting institutions that you listed on your application in an effort to identify a law school that will nominate you to participate in the program." So I guess my next move would be to contact CLEO ASAP once I receive an acceptance or place on the waiting list to a law school. Anyone ever heard of this happening to anybody and what the outcome was?
Edit: Got an email from Ms. Williams a day after I received the letter I mentioned above. She said she reviewed my file again and wanted to speak to me over the phone. Cleared up some issues with my application and discussed certain other things in the phone conversation. After 10-15 minutes she offered me a spot in to the programNow just gotta wait for the official letter to make sure she wasn't messing with me lol. Good luck to those still waiting...

Where do I find this list of schools of member / ssi (what does this stand for) schools? I assume there is a place on the CLEO app where I just write them down?

the list should be on the cleo website somewhere.jrod wrote:Where do I find this list of schools of member / ssi (what does this stand for) schools? I assume there is a place on the CLEO app where I just write them down?
go to http://www.cleoscholars.com/
go to the "about cleo" tab
select "who's involved?"
the schools are listed there.
i believe ssi = supporting/sustaining institutions

I walked my deposit to the CLEO office on Thursday. Received an email today informing me I would be placed at University of Pittsburgh for the 6 week institute. See the rest of the Pittsburgh CLEO Scholars there.

Hang in there. Most of us waited around for more than two months to get a response. Just be patient.

Re: CLEO 2009
Deferred 1/29. I don't get it. I applied to CLEO in early November. I've been accepted to 1 CLEO member school, 2 CLEO supporting schools, and 1 CLEO sustaining school. I'm accepted to SIU, one of host schools for the Summer Institute! I faxed them a letter explaining this along with the letters of acceptance. They said to wait until March and I might be reconsidered. I need a nomination, I guess.

I was just on the CLEO website for the 6 week institute and found out that they extended their deadline until Feb 17. Anyone know why?

i applied to CLEO back in December, and haven't heard anything yet either (I live in NYC).
i got accepted at a T14, and it would be great if CLEO accepted me, too!

Re: CLEO 2009
I have been accepted to several schools at this point. However, none of them were the 8 member schools I listed (all have rejected me
). Additionally, I applied Early Decision to CLEO back in November. I just received decision from them last week that although I have not been accepted at this point, I will need to wait until March when they send the names to the member schools that were on my list for a chance at being nominated.
So, my question is should I still send CLEO my faxed acceptance letters from those schools that have accepted me up to now? They are all member or supporting schools, though not on my original list of 8.
Thanks,
R

Re: CLEO 2009
You should at least send them the names of the member schools that you have been accepted to so far. If you leave the list as is you will more than likely not get any nominations, assuming the original 8 schools you listed have closed your file.ryr102 wrote:

You can always call them and ask to make sure of exactly what you should do.
Best of Luck

Re: CLEO 2009
Okay i just applied to CLEO at the end of January (jan 29), I have been accepted to few CLEO Supporting/member schools. I am trying to figure out what is the next step in the admission process? How much have I damaged my chances since I applied so late? When should I expect to hear from them?
If you have any info in regards to any of my questions, it will be sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeet lol
