Oh, I hope you get good news! Yeah, I've calculated my total app costs at $936, but I'm hoping more waivers roll in because that really hurts. I'm probably going to have a few more paydays before I'm ready to submit anyway.LSATneurotic wrote:I'm in the midst of waiting to hear from a job, so I am holding off on my applications until I get the word. Be confident! Unless you feel extremely comfortable taking the LSAT, do not sit for the september test. The return on investment for properly preparing for the LSAT is incredible, and you do yourself a disservice by taking the test before you feel ready.MadwomanintheAttic wrote:Everything is ready to go except Why X Essays. $936? sounds like you are applying too broadly. If you are applying to top 6 schools then you are clearly a competitive applicant. You should narrow down your list to schools you could realistically see yourself attending. Unless you just enjoy receiving fancy acceptance letterslc39 wrote:Oh, I hope you get good news! If you are applying to schools from which you would receive major scholarships then you need to solicit fee waivers...you will most likely get some which can save $$$.

I've got a "you're poor" LSAC waiver. The only school that did not automatically waive my fee was UT Austin...I still love them though

Checking back in! Lets see.. I took the June LSAT was not happy with my score so I decided I needed to retake it. I was planning on a September retake but I just didn't feel ready due to so much going on with school, working, etc. I pushed it back to the December test and I'm taking the 7sage prep course so hopefully that'll help. As far as applications go I have not started yet but I did write my diversity statement, personal statement and ask for my LOR. I am going to start apps today. I am extremely nervous about not receiving my results until possibly January but I'll just see what happens. Good luck to everyone though!

Submitted to Harvard, Columbia, Duke, Penn, and UCLA so far.
I also started studying for the December LSAT. Can law schools see future LSAT registrations? I don't want them to wait to evaluate my apps until January

If you get an acceptance from H before you sit for the exam will you go through with the retake?

Checking in!
Was going to apply last cycle, but decided against it due to a perceived late application. Despite receiving multiple fee waivers from T14 so far, I'm just going to be applying to approximately 4 or 5 schools before I retest in June (158, 3.92, AA male).
Hope everybody gets the school of their dreams!

The earliest i could get into H is right before the exam, so I'd probably just take it anyway. I got a 170 on my first PT, so I should be able to get that up a few points between now and December.lc39 wrote:Good luck on your retake!LSATneurotic wrote:Submitted to Harvard, Columbia, Duke, Penn, and UCLA so far.

Unless you tell schools that you are retaking and request that they hold off on reviewing you app, I don't think they know that you are retaking. I don't think there's any way for them to see your registrations.

How are your apps coming along ?

Little confused about your post. Why June ? By the way, you are about 6/7 lsat points from getting accepted everywhere.

Re: URM 2014-2015 Cycle Thread
Money is hard to come by in my family so I can't dedicate myself fully to studying in school, LSAT, and work. So instead of performing the same, or worse, I just need to push it back until the fam. is taken care of.
Thank you, I know that these last 6 or 7 points are absolutely necessary so hopefully come test day, I'll be able to perform at 165, or better.

Mine are OK, LORs should be in by mid-Oct and everything will be ready to go by then. I've been writing my "Why Xs" to procrastinate on my PS/DS.

If you're not taking the LSAT until June, are you applying this cycle? I think if you hold out for a 165+ you'll be an extremely strong applicant next cycle. That 158 is going to hold you back as the last score many schools will accept is probably December.jrd93 wrote:Checking in!

Re: URM 2014-2015 Cycle Thread
Hi All! Checking in for this cycle. I'm currently an AA Male, non-traditional student. I'm wanna attend the best school that I can (as does everyone else) so that I can give my young family the best opportunities possible in life. I have 3 kids all under the age of six so I'm doing everything with them in mind. I currently have a UGPA of 4.0, but my LSAC GPA will probably be more 3.5ish because of some extenuating circumstances that I had during one of my first few semesters. I'm shooting for a 165-170 on my September LSAT, but my PT scores have been extremely inconsistent. On any given day I can score anywhere from 158-166. I'm pretty consistent with LG and LR. RC give me fits and my fluctuations in score are usually do to this section. I can go anywhere from -6/7 to -15/16
. I'm spending as much time as I can in the next few days, but because of my circumstances, I'm going to be sitting in September rain or shine. Ideally if I could hit that 165 range I would like to try my chances at a HYS. Georgetown or Michigan would also be viable alternatives. Worst case scenario I could probably fall back on my state's #1, Ohio State. I'm not sure what softs would be considered above average, average, etc. I have some work experience community organizing, I did two internships with law and public policy firms in DC, as well as some other kinds of community work. I have a pretty interesting story that's either going to give me a big boost, or hurt me big time - depending on how it's viewed. Ultimately, I'm just ready to dive in and fill these apps out because the anticipation is killing me! I appreciate the purpose behind this forum and I wish everyone the best this cycle. If anyone has any advice for a brotha please don't hesitate to speak on it lol If I can, I will do the same...

Re: URM 2014-2015 Cycle Thread
Hi I just have a question. You guys that are scoring in the mid to upper 160s what did you guys do to study. I know there are guides out there but I'm curious as to your personal methods. I have taken it once already but panicked and did not do well. I am taking the 7sage prep course, I have the PS LG bible, PS LR bible, the Manhattan RC, and another Lsat prep book. I also have most of the official prep test. Would you guys advise me to do timed sections, just full test, or a combination of both. Any advice you have, I'd appreciate it.

Some motivation for you all. This is Dean Minow's welcome speech to the Class of 2017. I'm going to listen to it as motivation and imagine myself there a year from now.
