Is anyone still "checking in" ? I'm curious as to how many of you heard back from schools that applied in Sept/early Oct ? I guess I will check in as well!

Pretty big lurker here, but might as well check in:
AA Female, Top Tier private liberal arts
Double Major (Humanities)
3.65 & 160/160
Figured I didn't have a real shot at T-14 w/those numbers so ended up pretty much blanketing 2/3 of the top 30 (gotta love those fee waivers!). First apps in - 10/25, all apps in as of 11/8.
Of the T-14, applied to:
Columbia
Chicago
Michigan
Penn
Cornell
Duke
UVA
11/9 - In at Duke (PT)
11/10 - In at Wash & Lee
Loving the Duke admit (still in shock), but would be so bummed if it's all downhill from here!

Awesome and congrats on Duke! Doesn't that feel good. So I have to ask - because I may be in the same boat - will you choose to go to Duke if you don't get into a "better" school?ajudk8 wrote:Pretty big lurker here, but might as well check in:

Thanks AS33! It's hard to say at this point. $$ is a serious consideration and I want to see how the cards fall. But, it's likely I would go to Duke even if I did get into a higher ranked school. Duke has some major selling points. So the answer is: probably, maybe lol

Haha- you sound just a clueless as me! I am just anxious to hear from other schools. And like you, I almost feel like I don't stand a chance at the top schools I applied to. But Duke gave me some hope, and at the same time, presented the possibility that maybe we are underestimating ourselves? Good luck to you! And if you feel like it, keep me posted

AS33 and ajudk8, I came across this profile on LSN. Although u might not match his profile exactly, this should brighten up your day a little and give you some hope

Has any one applied to Yale yet? I keep telling myself to write the 250...but so far nothing. I got the Yale brochure and letter today and remembered it was on my to-do list.

Eh without rolling admission it has pretty much been my last app-related thing to do on my list.Justdoingmybest wrote:Has any one applied to Yale yet? I keep telling myself to write the 250...but so far nothing. I got the Yale brochure and letter today and remembered it was on my to-do list.

Ditto. Having trouble writing a 250 I'm completely satisfied with. The fact that it's not rolling admissions means there isn't much pressure to get it in but I do want to submit by the 15th for the sake of my own sanity.FryBreadPower wrote:Eh without rolling admission it has pretty much been my last app-related thing to do on my list.Justdoingmybest wrote:Has any one applied to Yale yet? JDMB, that really WAS quite nice of you! However since AA males typically receive higher boosts (AA females outnumber AA males in just about ANY law school class), an LSN link to a female profile may offer closer comparison. I submit for consideration, the following:Justdoingmybest wrote:AS33 and ajudk8, I came across this profile on LSN. Sure wish there'd been resources like these around back when *I* was applying to law school. Watching this cycle w/particular interest as I root for my daughter (who doesn't "do" online forums).

p.s. agree w/earlier poster(s) who noted an unusually high number of high-scoring URMs posting this year. Awesome! Those w/lower numbers, however, should definitely NOT be deterred. Good Luck to all!

Hell I thought that 15 was intense (applications seemed to drag on forever with all of the supplemental essays). I can't imagine doing twice that amount.
