I actually ended up getting unsolicited waivers from NYU and Berkeley (but Cornell denied my fee waiver requests)armc808 wrote:Pretty easy for the most part. I'd say I got unsolicited fee waivers from most of the T20, and successfully solicited fee waivers from Georgetown, UCLA, Cornell, and WUSTL. I didn't get fee waivers for HYS, NYU, and Berkeley because they either said they only did need-based fee waivers or gave them out if you did TFA or the like. However, I don't recall being denied a fee waiver that I asked for.PrezRand wrote:How difficult was it for you guys to get fee waivers?

They must've liked you then! Since I didn't get unsolicited waivers from them I checked their websites and they said they only accept solicited requests based on need and/or if you have an affiliation with some kind of fellowship/TFA-like program.hammy393 wrote:I actually ended up getting unsolicited waivers from NYU and Berkeley (but Cornell denied my fee waiver requests)armc808 wrote:Pretty easy for the most part. Also, make sure you check the actual app on LSAC before assuming you don't have one. A lot of mine were silent fee waivers (on LSAC but I wasn't notified via email or anything about them)

Haha yea when I initially requested waivers, NYU/Berkeley said they didn't give them out like that, but later on I received them unsolicited based on LSAC dataarmc808 wrote:They must've liked you then! Same, unsolicited from NYU and Berkeley as well, but the Berkeley one was in coordination with the LLSA group on campus.hammy393 wrote:I actually ended up getting unsolicited waivers from NYU and Berkeley (but Cornell denied my fee waiver requests)armc808 wrote:Pretty easy for the most part. So you mean you got fee waivers but didn't get emailed directly by the law school? How did you see it on your LSAC account?brinicolec wrote:Also, make sure you check the actual app on LSAC before assuming you don't have one. Basically, you start the application and then in the middle column where it shows the fees, it should say something like "Application fee: waived"

Yup that's the key lol. It's funny my mother has been preaching that I was going to go to Notre Dame all my life lol. I showed her I got in this is what she told me. "There is power in the tongue. I spoke of Notre Dame and it came to pass. I am sorry Son, you're going to USC. Congratulations."crookedsmile wrote:Congrats man, nice negotiating leverage if they offer you more than USC.Mr_Chukes wrote:In at Notre Dame.

congrats! My interview (and most others I've heard) was very relaxed. Typical why georgetown, why law, etc etc. While interviewing is definitely a good sign, it doesn't mean that you're in barring a terrible interview. I interviewed a few months ago and was placed on the preferred waiting list

Re: URM 2016-2017 Cycle Thread
Just heard from Columbia, in - with a Butler Fellowship (half-tuition / ~100k). I'm amazed.
I never even considered Butler to be a possibility, I wrote off getting it like a year ago and had forgotten it was a thing. Needless to say, I was shocked when I got it.
I really hope everyone else has an amazing cycle.
P.S. It's really nice of Columbia to simply put "Admit" as the subject of the email rather than something more ambiguous.
