They just came into my inbox.KillaKam92 wrote:I've only gotten a few from T20 schools and they all came in Feb. I got my transcripts and CAS shit sorted out near the end of January of tho FWIW. Very easy. I never asked, one day they just came pouring in. The first one I received was from Duke.PrezRand wrote:How difficult was it for you guys to get fee waivers?

Stanford didn't send you a packet? I got this packet from BLSA that had two letters one from admission, one from BLSA, and a bunch of resumes, personal statements, and diversity statements from other black students. There was a fee waiver included. I wasn't going to apply but I got that and threw in my app.crookedsmile wrote:Fortunately, not very. They did send a packet. But from SLLSA, not BLSA, which also had similar material but did not include a fee waiver, only the application for the waiver. Which I filled out, returned, and got approved pretty promptly.Mr_Chukes wrote:Stanford didn't send you a packet? No, lol. I mean I got fee waivers to nearly all the T14 (minus HYS of course), but they were all unsolicited.PrezRand wrote:Damn that must have been expensive.brinicolec wrote:I didn't solicit a single onePrezRand wrote:How difficult was it for you guys to get fee waivers?

I think I might've gotten more fee waivers if I got my transcripts in earlier, but I owed my undergrad $1100 in unpaid parking tickets I had to pay before I got a hold taken off my account.

Re: URM 2016-2017 Cycle Thread
I got Fee Waivers to all of the 21 schools where I applied. Most were solicited in Early September thru email. I had gotten most of them last cycle when I was thinking of applying so I just didn't bother waiting for them and asked for my fee waiver early. I did get a couple solicited ones though (Mich, WUSTL). But at the end of the day, my advice for soliciting is doing so EARLY. I know that's not helpful for this cycle but that's for future URMs!PrezRand wrote:How difficult was it for you guys to get fee waivers?

Re: URM 2016-2017 Cycle Thread
I, too, got a ton of fee waivers (all but H). I went a different route, though. I attended the local LSAC Forum and just visited the tables of all the schools I was even vaguely considering. This does 2 things:Stephylynette wrote:I got Fee Waivers to all of the 21 schools where I applied. Most were solicited in Early September thru email. 1) Puts your LSAC # on file as potential interest, and they will 9 times out of 10 just send you a fee waiver right after the forum, and
2) You get to talk to the adcomms for the schools you're interested in, and most importantly get their individual business cards. You then IMMEDIATELY follow up with thank you letters or emails, and they WILL email you back. Boom, point of contact. Super reassuring, if nothing else.

Is that true? I haven't looked into this as closely as you probably have, but just going over LSN for the past couple of years, 3.45/167/URM (average of the range he gave) doesn't seem like it gets you into H almost ever, although obviously the data set is small and most applicants probably don't have super strong softs like OP does.bunney_j wrote: You should get into H easily.
Personally I wouldn't give odds for or against him, although I don't really know what I'm talking about so please correct me if I'm wrong
good luck mrjd

Thanks. I think none of us really know! Also, there are so many people with lower scores who do not post on TLS/LSN at all. I haven't posted on LSN and I probably won't.Kinch08 wrote:Is that true? Re: URM 2016-2017 Cycle Thread
Pretty easy for the most part. I'd say I got unsolicited fee waivers from most of the T20, and successfully solicited fee waivers from Georgetown, UCLA, Cornell, and WUSTL. I didn't get fee waivers for HYS, NYU, and Berkeley because they either said they only did need-based fee waivers or gave them out if you did TFA or the like. However, I don't recall being denied a fee waiver that I asked for.PrezRand wrote:How difficult was it for you guys to get fee waivers?

I re-read my application essays after yesterday's freakout about radio silence from schools. Not sure what I was so worried about now that I think about it. It was a good application. You guys were right, I need to BREATHE, and wait and focus on other things. I put together a good application, and now I just have to give adcoms time to give me good news.
