Interesting. Is this hearsay or do you know any black law students? I would imagine that URMs in law school would stick together, fostering closer relationships than other academic programs.
It's not hearsay. A number of my friends are URM female attorneys working in BIGLAW and they are mostly single.
Sticking together??? This isn't Sesame Street. Shared skin tone doesn't necessarily mean having each other's back.

I hate to say this but I agree. There are some who do but it's so rare that it's not worth risking it. I also have considered and tried dating non-URMs and that did not go over well for me.
yeah, i will second that.. i dated a white guy for a little bit who seemed to really understand marginality but he was super uncomfortable being with my URM friends. he talked the talk but did not walk the walk
That's the hardest part, meshing them with my friends. I was willing to overlook that, but then the cultural values didnt line up and that's a definite deal breaker.

Maybe he meant sticking together like URMs sticking to dating each other? So Californiauser, do you think black guys are checking for black women at Top schools?

So people in BLSAs don't hang out and study together? Damn, I thought BLSA at top schools was legitimately tight-knit.

Have you tried OKCupid? I found the hubster on there at the admonishing of a blk male lawyer friend created my profile. He advised I find someone now, especially if I wanted to start a family soon. Law school will be too busy for all of that, let alone our careers!
But you'll have Wharton grad students as potentials so you're good
Girl, if I attend UPenn with you, I have some friends I can introduce you too.

Oh they do, but don't be surprised if you come across those who aren't "down"...you know, what I mean?
The strongest BLSA groups in the T14 seem to be Harvard, NYU, Penn, GTown, Michigan, UVA and Columbia. Stanford and Yale are close-knit too, but smaller.

Excuse my ignorance, what do you mean by this? Not down as in they don't relate to being black or as in not dating other blacks?

Dating, hadn't even thought about it. Although, NYU would be ideal based on the city.

The nerd in me is thinking we should just schedule a PW.
