Hey Everyone. I'm hoping to get some advice. I found out today that I'm an alternate for the Fulbright fellowship. I had planned on either deferring a year or reapplying but now I need to make a decision pretty quickly as I assume I'll be attending law school next year. I'm hoping to go into big-law/international law. Below are the current schools I'm working with. Right now I'm not sure which school would best help me to reach my career goals and how much to consider $$ from the t-20 schools.
Columbia-still waiting to hear back
NYU- still waiting to hear back
UVA-$
GULC
Vanderbilt-$$
WashU-$$$ (full-tuition)
Emory-$$

Hoping that my financial woes with Harvard work out. Still stuck in preliminary talks for my provisional award because of clarifications, etc. I just want to tell them we have no money, and are broke.
It's caused me a lot of stress the last few days. Who would have known that this would be more stressful than the LSAT?

Re: URM 2015-2016 Cycle Thread
Looking for a little advice...
I'm waiting to hear back from 6 schools.
Expecting Chicago decision soon.
Interviewed with Cornell about a month ago, no decision yet.
Complete silence from NYU, BU, UCLA, Columbia. (Applied between Jan 1-Jan 15)
Also, PR at Duke back in late Jan/early Feb.
Is it way too soon to reach out to these schools to express continued interest? Any direction would be greatly appreciated.

No, it's not too early. Time's running out, so you should do whatever you can at this point.DeanStrangJr wrote:Looking for a little advice...

Would you hold that to be true even if you applied in early Feb?fliptrip wrote:No, it's not too early. Time's running out, so you should do whatever you can at this point.DeanStrangJr wrote:Looking for a little advice...

I think so. Now, don't send it to any school that explicitly requests you not to, but at this point I'd be more concerned about the fact deposit deadlines are about six weeks away (and earlier at some schools).texcellence wrote:

Re: URM 2015-2016 Cycle Thread
Hey guys! I have a quick question I’m hoping you can help me with.
I am an international, Black, LGBT, female applicant applying in the next cycle. I read somewhere on a different thread that non-American Black applicants do not get the same URM boost as African-American applicants. Do you know if this is actually the case and would I get any kind of URM boost?
Thanks in advance!

I'd like to have a decision made up by April 15th for SEO. Still waiting on $ from Harvard, NYU, Berkeley, and NU though. I'd also like to negotiate as much as possible after I do get those offers so hopefully they come in quickly.BillClinton Jr wrote:When is everybody planning on making decisions? I have to make a prelim decision next week (but I pretty much know how that's gonna go I think), secondary decision by April 15th, and tertiary if need be by the 21st. All scholly deadlines.BillClinton Jr wrote:When is everybody planning on making decisions? Luckily, I don't have seat deposit deadlines until 4/22 and 5/1

Re: URM 2015-2016 Cycle Thread
By the third week of April. At that point all of my schools should have gotten back to me regarding scholarships, and I will have attended ASW for all the choices I'm currently seriously considering. I also have a response deadline for one of my scholarships that week, so my decision will be made by then one way or another.BillClinton Jr wrote:When is everybody planning on making decisions? I am impressed that you seem to have formed a bureaucracy in your own mind, lol. Will the secondary or tertiary decisions have to be approved by the preliminary committee or the committee of the whole?ih8makingscreennames wrote:I have to make a prelim decision next week (but I pretty much know how that's gonna go I think), secondary decision by April 15th, and tertiary if need be by the 21st.
