Yeah, and sorry for screwing up the quoting in my last post. NYU losing 28 folks is basically them holding on as tight as possible to that 170.

Yeah, UVA losing 20+ two years in a row though, that sounds like a problem....lc39 wrote:Yeah I'd guess that the 5+ point gains/losses are more significant and the others are just fluctuations/noise.
NYU and Columbia though, it looks like they're swinging back and forth in class size to hold medians. Definitely interested in seeing how much room there is for below median urms this year.

Re: URM 2014-2015 Cycle Thread
I haven't seen that kind of break down, but the decline in African American applicants has been pretty consistent with the decline in White applicants. I don't immediately see a reason why the ratio of black 170s and 160s would be different than the ratio of white 170s and 160s. But who knows.gamerish wrote:Does the ABA/LSAC/Spivey/etc ever breakdown changes in scores amongst URMs by year or cycle (so there's some way to know if the number of URMs scoring 170+ decreased as well)?
Just speaking for AAs, there are so few black 170s (and 160s, actually) that I'm not sure how far there is to go.

I remember staring at LSN being like...there's nothing here.

In at NW this week. Still leaning UVA.
Agree on the limited info out there. Its really bad. Gotta be sure to leave our completed cycles on LSN for posterity.

Thanks Flokkness and Atmosphere!
Woohooo Flockkness for NW!
Shout out to my Latin@s!! =) ...but agreed, it's been difficult to find data other than "If you're MA/PR you get a boost, but not as much as AA". (and I still don't know what data backs that up).
The LSAT data on Latinos is interesting because IIRC, they changed from tracking Latinos, to MA/PR. Or something like that. I don't remember where I saw that.

They track PR separately but MA are included in the Latino group.Tr3 wrote:Thanks Flokkness and Atmosphere!

You don't know what data backs up the boost for MA/PR? Or backs up the fact that it's smaller than AA?

The boost. I guess particularly for MA/PR over other Latinos. I guess data can be found by looking at LSN, but I've never seen an official report with numbers or something that says other Latinos don't get a boost. Perhaps I just haven't looked hard enough?lc39 wrote:They track PR separately but MA are included in the Latino group.Tr3 wrote:Thanks Flokkness and Atmosphere!

I don't know if there's data on it besides LSN and cases like Grutter v. Bollinger which specifically name PR and MA as groups that receive preference due to affirmative action.Tr3 wrote:The boost. That and I think some Latinx groups are over-represented in law school when compared to their %age of the U.S. population as a whole (e.g. white Cubans).
On the whole I think law schools don't always care. I know not all of my apps asked for my specific Latinx group.
T14 schools:
Yale - doesn't ask for any race/ethnicity info.
Harvard - only asks Hispanic/Latino, not specific group.
Stanford - asks for Hispanic/Latino and specific group.
UChi - asks for Hispanic/Latino and specific group.
Col - asks for Hispanic/Latino and specific group.
NYU - only asks Hispanic/Latino, not specific group.
Penn - asks for Hispanic/Latino and specific group.
UVA - asks for Hispanic/Latino and specific group.
Berkeley - "answer suppressed" when I go back and look at my app.
Mich - only asks Hispanic/Latino, not specific group.
Duke - only asks Hispanic/Latino, not specific group.
NU - only asks Hispanic/Latino, not specific group.
Cornell - asks for Hispanic/Latino and specific group.
GULC - only asks Hispanic/Latino, not specific group.
