Yeah I sent them an email about it. Hopefully they've got something in the same time frame.

I don't know about emailing. The note did say that we would only be able to see interview slots two weeks out and to check back for more availability. I'll wait and check back

Re: 2016 SEO Applicants
Has anyone interviewed yet? I have been reading through the big SEO thread for tips and have been prepping, but if we could have feedback from an interview this year that would be helpful.

Where do we reserve interview spots?FairchildFLT wrote:New interview spots were posted today. I checked at 8am ish Central time. There was one spot. If you're waiting for a spot, Thursday is the day to check.
I just received a generic email congratulating me "again" , but I never received the original interview request notification.

Yeah they sent an email today too about the lack of interview spots. They selected a lot of candidates to interview and they are opening interview spots on a rolling basis I guess.FairchildFLT wrote:New interview spots were posted today. Interview set for next week. If anyone has already interviewed and wanted to share any thoughts / tips on the process, that'd be great!

Re: 2016 SEO Applicants
Just finished, I think it went pretty well. Almost exactly an hour long, they were a lot nicer than I thought they would be. The old thread said they would be like really standoffish, but it was very cordial. but remember to practice the names of the firms you want to work at, I did fine except for one and said it wrong a few times and each time they corrected me right away (that was the only awkward part). fingers crossed! PM if want more specifics
the questions were pretty much like the old thread said
why law
why seo
primary city and firms
behavioral questions
news article type case study.

Seconded! Had an interview recently and Exact Same experience with the interviewers as well as questions, seemed successful! I didnt have the same issue with the firm names thoughcdotson2 wrote:Just finished, I think it went pretty well. Almost exactly an hour long, they were a lot nicer than I thought they would be. Hahaha yeah, you probably want to avoid saying "I want to work at Watch-tell or Whale"
But yes the SEO folks are rather nice!

Can someone shine some light on when we can expect to hear back if we received an offer or not?
Also, I apologize if this has already been answered, how can we prepare for the case study? What do they ask us to do?

As for the case study, I really wouldn't worry about it. It's not intensive and I think they give everyone a different case so I don't think there's much you could prepare for.

Okay thanks! I have my interview in two weeks, but I feel like that may be a bit too much time to prepare, almost to the point of being counterproductive haha.gamerish wrote:Offers come out mid-AprilMrR10 wrote:Can someone shine some light on when we can expect to hear back if we received an offer or not?

Also, I was reading the previous year's SEO thread and I came across interesting, albeit non-cited, statistics: 1,000 applications, 350 interviews, 85 offers (give or take for each respective figure). If we have already gained admission to a T-14, is gaining an offer a near lock? Of course, barring any extraordinarily terrible interview.

Re: 2016 SEO Applicants
Actually, there were between 500 and 600 applicants last year. I have no idea how many interview offers were extended but I believe the 85 offers is about right. Both those numbers come directly from SEO.MrR10 wrote:Okay thanks! As for being a lock at T14, I can't speak to that definitively. I know they rejected a Harvard attendee either last cycle or the cycle before but the circumstances leading up to that, I have no idea. I also don't know if those offered interviews are already pre-selected for having been T14 tier applicants or if that happens after the interview. I'd be tempted to say that T14 isn't a lock or anything close since the majority of their class is T14 bound (and of that, Harvard and Columbia are apparently the most represented) and they almost certainly have more than 80ish of such applicants.

to clarify this was the make up of the seo class in 2010."From last years thread:
NYU - 13
Harvard - 12
Columbia - 11
Stanford - 5
Chicago - 5
Yale - 3
Boalt - 3
Georgetown - 2
Cornell - 2
Virginia - 1
Northwestern - 1
Duke - 1
Penn - 1
UT Austin - 1
Source: viewtopic.php?f=2&t=50541&start=1475"
so t-14 isn't even close to a lock. NYU Columbia or Harvard is closer to a lock as long as you don't mess anything up, but still we don't know how many minority applicants from these schools are applying to seo, but we do know these schools admit a lot more minorities than what is shown above.

In the Webinar they said the SEO class should be closer to 90 this year.

true but consider this.FairchildFLT wrote:In the Webinar they said the SEO class should be closer to 90 this year.
The reference for above was taken from the aba for the class of 2012, and is the total number of AA students at these schools.Number of AA first-years (most recent data):
Harvard: 53
Yale: 13
Stanford: 15
Columbia: 37
Chicago: 13
NYU: 27
UC Berkeley: 19
Penn: 19
UVA: 27
Michigan: 13
Duke: 17
Northwestern: 15
Georgetown: 50
Cornell: 13
Total for Top 14: 331
UCLA: 7
UT-Austin: 17
Vanderbilt: 16
Total including additional three: 371
Harvard and Columbia alone could have filled seo alone with just AA aplicants in 2012 if we assume 90 seo spots, but we also know seo accepts more than just AA applicants, so the numbers above grossely underestimate the number of minorities within the t-14 from which seo could pick. What this means is that in theory seo rejects a lot of t-14 applicants even at top programs like Columbia, Harvard and NYU. To counter this we don't know how many minority applicants who are applying to law school are actually applying to seo as well, and it could hypothetically be that they actually do only have a very small number of t-14 admits applying to the program and they give all of us a spot, I just think it is unlikely.

Ok I think I've finally finished the application after updating my resume and all of that good stuff. When should I expect to hear anything about moving forward? Not really sure how this process will work, and there are so many "Post Removed"s in this chat that I think asking is my best chance of figuring anything out lol

Re: 2016 SEO Applicants
If you're sure you've got everything uploaded (LSAT, GPA, resume, personal statement, etc), all you can do is sit back and wait. There's no approximate timeline after their initial wave of interview invites, it just seems to be whenever they get around to it.jj2hawks wrote:Ok I think I've finally finished the application after updating my resume and all of that good stuff.
