Is anyone applying to Cornell? I am debating whether or not to attach a Why Cornell essay since the question on the application that asks you why you want to attend only provides three lines for an answer. I'm leaning towards the "if they wanted you to write one they would have asked" answer, but I don't know. Any thoughts?

AA Male, 3.3 LSAC GPA, Private college in NYC. I really wanna know what's my chances in the T14? I have some pretty good softs, interned at Department of Defense this summer, interned for a U.S Senator, started the college Democrats chapter at my school, member of an honors society, self publishing a childrens book, op-ed writer for the school newspaper. What Kind of LSAT score do I need to be competitive with my GPA and softs? What schools would be interested in me.

I'm applying this cycle too. Planning to have all of my applications off right after the October LSAT. I've secured the letters of rec, they are being sent out to LSAC in September and I'm studying for the LSAT and working on the essays right now.

Totally depends on the LSAT score. What are you working with on practice exams?

Yeah I'm studying with the Powerscore LR and LG Bibles. I've been taking practice exams pretty much, scoring in the low 160s. I really wanna know what score I need with my current background (GPA, Softs) to be competitive in the T14. What schools I should be looking at. Everything will be sent out as soon as I get my LSAT score back in Oct.

The higher the better, but for T14 I'd safely say 165+ if you also want scholarship money with that acceptance letter.


To be honest, I think you'll be ok acceptance-wise with low 160s if you apply early. I agree if you want $ you should aim for 164-165ish range


Given the close proximity to exam date you should be spending less time on TLS and more time taking practice tests and working on your weaknesses. October will be here before you know it.

Worth it?

Sure, you make connections and get plugged into their network. You also learn a bit and work on cases with law professors. I only did it because I didn't get SEO. For anyone who doesn't get SEO, why not?

I did the AIE program. It's a weekend long event held once on both coasts (this year was LA and ATL). We had to pay a registration fee and for travel, but registration is returned after you attend and a travel stipend of $200 is alloted as well. Essentially, most people paid nothing or close to nothing depending on how early they booked their flights.

SEO is essentially for anyone who will be attending law school in the fall that follows the summer they're applying for. The reason they don't give a specific definition for recent graduate, is that there isn't one. There were a few people in their late twenties, and quite a few who had been out of school for at least a couple of years. I was straight out of undergrad, but I think the majority had taken some time off. Any URMs applying to law school, should just apply to SEO right along with it. The app process doesn't really take that much until you're granted an interview, and if you manage to get it, the benefits are very well worth it.
