1L/2L internship opportunities at CCN compared to DMV?
I understand that the career prospect at these schools might be very similar if you are their top students.
but how about internships opportunities for 1L and 2L? Being in NYC seems to have a significant advantage. But do firms do internship recruiting at DMV frequently?
I go to a top-tier liberal arts college yet just because we are located in an isolated town, firms don't usually come here for recruiting unless we have alumni connections with them. I'm hearing my IB/finance-aspiring friends complaining everyday about how career networks here not comparable to Columbia, and might even be worse than schools like BU... Apparently I do not want the same thing happen to me a few years later!

1. DMV? What's that? It's MVP. D's usually in the sub-tier below MVP.
2. They're not called internships. They're called summer associates.
3. Yes. They are better at CCN if you're talking about biglaw. No, they are not better for biglaw if you are actually at the "very top", because the "very top" is good enough to get you the foot in the door anywhere during OCI, even if you're in G (the rest will all be how well you interview, whether they like you, etc).
4. Don't even consider that you will be a "top student" anywhere. Incredibly smart people suck at law school. Some relatively stupid people do really well. Same w/ effort. Everyone/anyone who's been to a T14 law school will tell you that 1L grades (and pretty much all grades) are incredibly random (hint: you are not tested on knowledge of anything). It is much more useful to focus on how median does, then give slight consideration to how the "very top" does.

So you go to school at the DMV is that why the lines are so long lately?M51 wrote:1. DMV? What's that? It's MVP. D's usually in the sub-tier below MVP.

do CCN students get federal judicial, DOJ, and major NGO 1L internships commonly, or are these reserved for HYS students?

Even at P (the school you left out that is higher in the rankings then D, M, or V...im just kidding) people get those things over there 1L summer, I know a handful who had fed court jobs before finals started even...Lots of DOJ interviews in NYC, philly, & DC for my friends (most want grades before hiring)...I have not been so lucky

Agreed; always assume median. So my question is: how do median students at CCN fare compared to median students at MVP when its comes to say BigLaw SA positions?M51 wrote:1. DMV? What's that? It's MVP. D's usually in the sub-tier below MVP.

1L summer? Anyone at CCN available to give some insight into the sort of 1L opportunities? Do these tend to mostly go to students with significant previous work experience.imchuckbass58 wrote:Yes, pretty commonly.of Benito Cereno wrote:do CCN students get federal judicial, DOJ, and major NGO 1L internships commonly, or are these reserved for HYS students?
