Georgetown vs Michigan vs Northwestern vs Duke
Trying to decide which law school to attend out of:
Gtown
Mich
NW
Duke
I know the rule of thumb is to go to the best ranked school possible but seeing as these schools are all tied or neck and neck...
I want to go to a school that has the best prospects after graduation and will land me a great job with a topnotch law firm.
So what would you do and why?

The rankings belie the fact that Michigan is substantially more prestigious than the other three schools on the list. If you don't have any money at GND, then Michigan is the obvious choice.

i dont really care about the campus. i just want to go to school, learn, hopefully do well, and get out and get a good job. so im not one of those people who worries about the atmosphere and the surrounding accommodations.

Are you a flame? Only 10% of Michigan grads stay in the state. It feeds mainly to NYC, then Chicago, then Cali.piercehan wrote:

Believe it or not, Duke grads don't mainly work in North Carolina either...

Hasn't Georgetown been struggling some ITE? If money is equal and there are no other personal factors or preferences to be accounted for, Michigan seems like the obvious answer.

Michigan has a very long history, and until the 1990s was a top-6 school. Very few grads actually stay in Michigan, though many stay in the Midwest (Chicago, etc).piercehan wrote:all but duke

Everyone is struggling ITE, outside of HYS anyway. Bottom-third CCN grads are shitting themselves right now.whataboutbahb wrote:M>DN>>G

reading this makes me wonder how you got into these schools. congrats on having such good options, but...really? FWIW, i agree with the above post: michigan.

NU. Chicago is great. If location matters NU is the winner.

Re: Georgetown vs Michigan vs Northwestern vs Duke
sorry did little to no research on these individual schools
and not sound ungrateful for your advice ^ but dont be a jerk. just because I do not know the history/prestige of a school other than the rankings off of USNews, does not make me unqualified to enter these schools.
i just graduated uni, got accepted and am now choosing. forgive me for JUST joining the forum today and relying mostly on the USNews rankings

Re: Georgetown vs Michigan vs Northwestern vs Duke
Columbia placed 74% V50 and 80% V100 for C/O 2007. Now, in Columbia's class, 82% went into private practice. That means that if you were top 90% you got a V50 firm, and people in the bottom 10% had to settle for V100.thesealocust wrote:Bottom third of CCN were never exactly getting handed biglaw.rayiner wrote:Everyone is struggling ITE, outside of HYS anyway.
