Northwestern (sticker) vs Georgetown ($.5)
My goal is big law
Northwestern will cost about $27000 more per year
I am currently deposited at Georgetown and got a scholarship that is worth $.5 (more than $, less than $$). Honestly, I really want to go to Northwestern but not sure if it's a smart decision to pay the sticker.

I would like to add that
after 3 years Northwestern will cost $81000+interest more than GULC

I'd stick with GULC. NU does have better placement power, but it's probably not worth 2x the price. Maybe if you had a location preference, that would shift the equation a little.

Agreed with above, unless you really want to be in Chicago. What's your draw to NW? For generic biglaw goals, NW is generally stronger, but I'm not sure it's worth $81k more overall.

I'd ask Northwestern if they can give you some $ and let them know you have 1/2 tuition at GULC. I don't think NW is worth $81k more than GULC, but if NU can give you $15k a year, I'd take it then

Agree that NW is not worth the extra price, although I must admit I'm a bit biased as a Georgetown alum. I'd only consider NW if you were dead set on the Chicago area.

I agree with the other posters. Northwestern's placement numbers do not justify that price tag. What would be your total COA at Georgetown?

(1) I initially read the title of this thread to mean that you received a scholarship worth fifty cents from Georgetown, and got a kick out of it. (2) If you would be happy with any Biglaw position, it seems like Georgetown might be a good decision given the cost differential. But what is the reason you really want to go to Northwestern? Is there something specific you think Northwestern will get you that Georgetown will not? (I know Northwestern does well in Chicago/the Midwest, are you targeting that area?)

Neither school's placement numbers justify their price tag. I would not attend northwestern at $300k (roughly what I imagine sticker to be. OP says GULC is $80k less. I wouldn't attend GULC for $220k.
