Decisions
I've been accepted in Temple and GW. Waitlisted on Boston College and GMU.
I took the LSAT 3 times finished with 163.
I will be using loans to cover anything not covered by scholarship.
I am originally from Philadelphia and plan to work for the Federal DOJ.
#53 Temple: Scholarship 111,000 COA 180,000
#30 GWU: Scholarship 48,000 COA 258,0000
After 1L, I will be adding MBA. Temple Business is ranked 32. GWU Business is unranked.
Temple seems like the better option but would going to GWU be worth the debt?
What do you think guys?

Re: Decisions
What do you want to do? Where do you want to work? Do you want to be a lawyer or in business?
The two options presented are likely both incredibly bad options unless you really, really love debt and marginal employment opportunities.

if those are your goals, why would you need an MBA?judeman266@gmail.com wrote:I want to work in the DOJ and join a firm after about 10 years.

I want to open a mentoring agency for high schoolers later. MBA not a good idea?

Re: Decisions
Ok, neither. Retake/reapply for schools that might actually get you that outcome. These schools won't get you there and aren't worth these levels of debt.judeman266@gmail.com wrote:I want to work in the DOJ and join a firm after about 10 years.

I still don't understand where an MBA comes into play. I'm not sure you do either.judeman266@gmail.com wrote:I want to open a mentoring agency for high schoolers later. MBA not a good idea?
Do you understand how unlikely it is to go straight into the DOJ out of ANY school, let alone these schools? You will need to be top 10%, probably more like top 5%, and even then it is far from likely. What are your plans if you graduate at median, or even top 30%? because you won't get DOJ or biglaw at that point.

Re: Decisions
Yeah, an MBA is not needed for what you want and will just add debt. If you had more modest goals in Philly, Temple would be a fine choice. But if you want to go to DOJ you need to go to a t13 school and retake.

Re: Decisions
Neither. Retake and target the T13. You cannot realistically achieve these goals from any other school.
Also, most people go firm, then DOJ (and then maybe back to a firm again). I guess you could technically do it the other way around, but DOJ honors is way more competitive than biglaw.

Re: Decisions
this has to be flame. you either need to severely reevaluate your goals or adjust your schools.

Re: Decisions
Both are terrible options and make it very unlikely you work for the DOJ.
Wait until you can retake again, seriously reevaluate your goals and attend a local school if free, or don't go at all
