Boston College vs Indiana University
I'm trying to decide between BC and IU. I'd like to do Big Law and am aware that I would need to finish at the top of my class to be able to at both schools. However, according to LST BC has a 38.1% of 2015 in Big Law and IU has a 15.7%. I have 30% of total cost of attendance at BC and 57% of total cost of attendance at IU in merit. If I went to IU I would apply to the Kelley School and get a joint JD/MBA. I visited both schools and really enjoyed them both. I like the fact that BC has a home market of Boston and worry more about IU and having to work in Indy (rather than say Chicago). My biggest fear is that I'll go to BC and have a huge amount of debt and not get a Big Law job after graduation. Whereas, I'll owe much less at IU--but my chances of getting a Big Law job seem much slimmer.
Thanks in advance for any input

Oh also--I'm from Minnesota and would like to *some day* make it back here but that's not a necessity and wouldn't happen for quite awhile anyways.

What is your total COA then? What do you actually want to do? What is your LSAT/GPA?
Sounds like BC will be way too much. IU might still be too much based on likely outcome. If you don't want to end up in Indiana, I wouldn't recommend going to IU. If you would rather be in Minnesota you should go to UMN and if you would rather be in Chicago, you should shoot for NU/UChi or at least UIUC.
You need to give us more information, but the likely answer is neither.

Then why is this a question?tls2020account wrote:I'd like to do Big Law and am aware that I would need to finish at the top of my class to be able to at both schools.
This is like asking whether you should play slots or roulette to win a big jackpot. One of them might actually give you better odds, but if you really want to win money, you should be playing a different game.

Nope. Not without knowing what the cost is at BC. This one is trending straight toward neither since you have two completely separate regionals (and from an altogether different region for establishing ties). These are likely going to be really poor options unless the OP had really strong numbers and just applied poorly by picking random regional schools in different parts of the country that won't put you back where you want to be eventually. That's just all kinds of bad decision making.helpmedecide222 wrote:for your goals - BC
