Am I crazy for not taking NYU (Duke$$ v NYU Forum

This is really just a sanity check since I'm about to put down my deposit this week:

I have been all in on Duke since I started my cycle. I'm from the south and want to return, I want firm work (not a huge fan of big law but I recognize I'll have to be there for a little while probably.) Want a clerkship. Would prefer DC over NYC if I don't try to jump directly to my target market. So of the T14 Duke (and UVA) were clear favorites. I didn't like c-ville nearly as much as Durham so Duke was my number 1. 90k and WL from H and C sealed it.

However last week I was accepted to NYU, and while i would rather attend Duke, I sometimes see this reverence applied to the T6, as though it is worth sticker over all the rest of the T14.

So I guess the question is, am I crazy for turning down the preftige of NYU to go to little old Dook?

Was in the same situation 2 years ago & choose Duke. Employment stats aren't noticeably different than NYU + Scholarship money + MUCH lower COL (everyone seems to over look this in choosing schools, but living in Durham is much more cost effective for broke law students than living in the village)

Yeah this is clearly Duke. Besides cheaper, etc, Duke has better placement power in DC than NYU it appears.

Yeah I'm basically assuming NYU is sticker since I wouldn't be able to see the offer before making a decision.

I've gotten the TLS stamp of approval so it looks like a moot issue anyway

That said, you should probably try and see if you can use the NYU acceptance as leverage for a scholarship increase from Duke. I don't know how receptive they are to that, but worst they can say is no and you're in the same spot as now.
