any guidance appreciated
168 3.9gpa
My offers thus far:
Boston university (105k)
Fordham (105k)
Cornell (105k)
George Washington (150k)
Georgetown- unknown amount but responded to feelers email by discussing cornells offer and cost of living in dc.
Duke- have scholarship interview in march, not expecting much.
My gut says cornell, do i try to leverage boston? Does georgetown compete with such a high offer from cornell?
Important piece: I am fortunate to have no undergrad debt, and I still have around 50k to put toward my law school costs.

As it stands, Cornell. But what are your career goals, and where do you want to work?

1.) Not too concerned with region where I end up
2.) My heart says clerking, but both big law and public interest are possibilities that I am ok with. Im hoping my path can be narrowed after 1st semester or at least 1st year.

Depends on goals, but Cornell on a $105K scholarship with another $50K in the bank isn't a bad outcome. Wait and see what Duke and Georgetown throw at you, but Cornell will likely be your best option. It could change if Georgetown gives you $$$$ and you want to work in DC, however.

Then Cornell it is. If you get a decent offer from Duke and Georgetown, leverage all those offers against one another for negotiations. If Duke ends up offering the same amount (or more than) Cornell, I'd go to Duke.charlee4614 wrote:1.) Not too concerned with region where I end up

Im kind of under the impression that georgetown is very stingy with money and that my numbers are just kind of average for Duke (aka maybe only 60k)...does this assume too much?

No, your characterizations (i.e. GTown being stingy and average numbers for Duke) are correct, but you never know what you'll get. You could get lucky and get a hefty scholarship offer.charlee4614 wrote:Im kind of under the impression that georgetown is very stingy with money and that my numbers are just kind of average for Duke (aka maybe only 60k)...does this assume too much?

And even if you just get something close to Cornell, you can at least use that to bump Cornell's offer up.acr wrote:No, your characterizations (i.e. GTown being stingy and average numbers for Duke) are correct, but you never know what you'll get. I think my main hope is georgetown comes back with 1 115k so that i can take that back to cornell.
Wild card: still waiting on vanderbilt which I completed the full tuition merit scholarship app (very happy with/used my experience as a mental health case manager/social work may equal brown points haha)

Out of the current offers, definitely Cornell. Nothing to do now but wait for GULC, Duke, and Vandy offers.

I know the company line from gulc is that scholarship will start coming out at beginning of march, however I am hoping that i get something sooner.

Yeah, not sure how it's been going in recent years, but in the past they beat that timeline. I remember getting that feeder e-mail saying awards would come out March 1st, then they sent me my generous award of $0 in mid-February.charlee4614 wrote:Lavitz wrote:Out of the current offers, definitely Cornell.
