Biting the Bullet Early in the Cycle
Hey, all!
Hopefully this will be my last question regarding law school admissions.
I recently received a Dillard scholarship to go to UVA. UVA has always been my ideal school, and I would prefer it over HYS/CCN on a full ride. I want to work in either DC or NYC, doing generic big law.
There's an apartment complex I really want to live at while at UVA, but it fills up basically on December 1st. Is there anything wrong with me biting the bullet, getting a lease, withdrawing my other apps, and putting down a seat deposit?
Hopefully this will be my last question regarding law school admissions.

What could be wrong with that? You've already basically won. Congrats.SweetTort wrote:Hey, all!

Just want to make sure I'm not being foolhardy by forgoing "better" options.Dcc617 wrote:What could be wrong with that? You've already basically won. Congrats.SweetTort wrote:Hey, all!

You can always get an apartment and hold off on the seat deposit for another couple of months if you are unsure. Worst case you are probably out a couple hundred deposit/application fee at the apartment if you go elsewhere.SweetTort wrote:Just want to make sure I'm not being foolhardy by forgoing "better" options.Dcc617 wrote:What could be wrong with that? Really though, if UVA is where you want to be, I think you won my friend. Congrats.

It's the school you want to go to, and the price is right. For generic Biglaw, I can think of few better options.

I would probably do this. But it seems like UVA is your dream and for me, nothing beats a full ride (especially one at a good school).Right2BearArms wrote:

As someone who may well end up at UVA, which one did you find was appealing enough to do this? (Not that I'm even thinking of commuting anywhere before I see the scholarship $, but I wanna know what sort of place in C-ville fills up that quick)SweetTort wrote:Hey, all!

If a full at Columbia wouldn't pull you away from UVA, then I see no reason not to withdraw/deposit/get an apartment/etc.
I am not surprised your cycle is ending so quickly and I'm really happy for you!
