Full text of press release
Julie Beavers joined Ward and Smith, P.A. on October 3, signaling a renewed emphasis on lateral recruiting and attorney professional development. She will help the firm identify and hire new and lateral attorneys via the newly-created position of Director of Attorney Recruiting and Professional Development. She is based in the firm's Raleigh office.
"Julie will play a key role in the firm's continued growth through lateral recruiting in support of our current and future strategic initiatives, directing our professional development program, and further cultivating our attorney retention, transition, and diversity programs," said Ken Wooten, the firm's Co-Managing Director. "We're confident she will make a meaningful contribution to our firm, and are excited she's on the team."
Julie has over 20 years of experience in recruiting and professional development in the legal and professional services industries. She assisted hundreds of law school students over the past eight years as the Director of the Career and Professional Development Center at the Campbell University School of Law. She began her career in recruiting with Womble Carlyle, where she managed campus and lateral recruiting as well as the summer associate program for the Raleigh and Research Triangle Park offices. In addition to recruiting, Beavers also managed the associate professional development program. She was a founding member and former President of the Triangle Association of Legal Recruitment Administrators (TALRA). She also held several national and regional leadership positions with the National Association of Legal Career Professionals (NALP).
I only found out due to announcement of her new job recruiting for a multi-branch state firm.
Campbell has made no announcement concerning this change, but considering this persons career at Campbell has presided over 50% rates of employment and 17% rates of unemployment I can see why the switch was not well advertised.
This place is a failure factory, employees are jumping ship on a weekly basis.
Take a look at this quote from the press release.
"signaling a renewed emphasis on lateral recruiting"
Now consider the fact that Campbell boasts a massive 50% long term, full time, licensed required employment rate for new grads.
So essentially Campbell's former career services director is going from...not helping new grads find employment...to...still not helping new grads find employment. Gotta love it.

Re: Campbell is replacing their career services director
The things I'd do to be an administrator at one of these law schools.

another update.
Professor Amos Jones at Campbell Law has also opened a private practice. Is this just preparation to jump ship too?
