I generally disagree with the whole "this school has a better X program than that school." First, as a fresh JD your expertise on any area won't make too much of a difference (except careers in IP). Second, you might very well change your mind about the type of law you want to do as soon as you start. Third, I am sure that both schools have great faculty and either one will do.

Michigan > Cornell at equal cost. It's not 2010.

Ranking doesn't matter, and highly doubt the opportunities will be different at either.

The difference between Michigan and Cornell COA is actually pretty substantial. As of last year, Cornell's COA was 85k, whereas Michigan's was just below 75k. That's a difference of 30k over the course of 3 years. Since when is 30k a negligible amount of debt? Michigan is definitely the choice when Cornell and Michigan have equal COAs. There is absolutely no scenario in which Cornell is worth 30k more than Michigan.

I agree that there are not many scenarios where Cornell is worth 30k more than Michigan, but

is just laughable.

your Cornell bachelors degree tips it over to Michigan for me. I'd head to Ann Arbor in the fall.
