Duke vs Cornell
Hey guys,
So I was taken off both the Cornell and Duke waitlist. Basically going to need to pay sticker or very close to it for both schools. I'm not 100% set on it, but I'm pretty sure I want to do big law in NYC. Having said that, I know Cornell has the edge. Considering that the schools are peers, and that I think I would be happier at Duke, would it be crazy to pass up Cornell to go to Duke? I spent my undergraduate years upstate too, and a change of scenery might be nice.

You'd be better off working your way up at McDonald's from cashier to restaurant manager - completely serious.

Short of multimillionaire parents (and even then morally I'd feel feel guilty) I would retake.
The best advice I ever got vis-a-vis law school was from an older attorney I used to do grunt work for. He basically said that unless you can go to law school with a substantial scholarship; don't GO! Now while I don't agree 100% (rich parents, guaranteed job w/family firm, etc) I do think there is a lot of merit to that statement. Going with a substantial scholarship is probably the best bet.
