In your case, Biglaw1990, I strongly recommend that you study alone.Biglaw1990 wrote:Do you recommend studying alone during 1L?Nebby wrote:What the hell is a study group. Like, talk about inefficiency

Re: Columbia vs. NYU vs. retake for government
I can't possibly see the benefit in retaking.
CLS has a very deep bench in government. Until last year, arguably the three most important gov't attorneys--the solicitor general, the attorney general, and the SEC head--were CLS grads (and Verilli is still SG). There's also a huge presence at state and in the diplomatic class; the US ambassador to the EU is a CLS grad, for example. So I have a hard time believing Columbia has no advantage over the rest of the T14 or that its such a sharp drop after three schools on us news.
If money is really no issue, I'd go to CLS, but if you could save your parents a headache, NYU offers basically the same thing.
As a final note: while the administration at CLS is pretty shameful, the government advising is actually on point.

Sorry, bungled my post - still getting used to this. Thanks, this is particularly helpful (also, Mary Jo White is also still the head of the SEC ).jbagelboy wrote:I can't possibly see the benefit in retaking.

Re: Columbia vs. NYU vs. retake for government
How about going to NYU and asking your parents for the price difference to spend on supplemental living costs (aka hookers and blow)?
