Well it's bound to happen since the 'rank' you're referring to doesn't weigh employment very high16to19 wrote:Is it just me or is that rather 'good' for where they 'rank'?BigTex wrote:American University - 15.3% Big Law FT + Fed Clerkships

Re: Class of 2015 Employment Statistics by School
The more data the better, but some advice to 0Ls in this thread. Try to take into account the differences between markets. For example, in the mid-west, the old west, the PNW, the south.. yeah actually it's probably better to say everywhere excluding the 10 biggest cities in the country.. in this giant swath of "everywhere else" there are basically no large law firms. And if there are large law firms, the "outcome" of getting a job at one of these firms should probably carry extra weight. I'm not sure there are the staff attorney positions like you see in NYC in the large firms in Albuquerque, OKC, Milwaukee, etc. But more importantly you all should understand that a "large law firm" in most of the country is 15 lawyers. There are plenty of states that do not have any law firms of more than 50 attorneys.
For me, it makes a school like U Tennessee more impressive (19 percent for a school in East Tennessee?). Some T2 or T3 in a giant city less impressive. Best advice to is to narrow the schools you are considering and really dig deep into the outcomes from that school. Ask the school to send you a list of every employer from the class of 2015. You may find that those business/industry jobs can be really good, or those 11-25 firms can basically be the hottest firm within a 250 mile radius. Same for state/local clerkships. A New Jersey traffic court clerkship is garbage, a State of X Court of Appeals clerkship is a great start to a career in that state. USNEWS doesn't break these clerkships up, and they really should.

Some of those aren't FTLT. See: http://www.law.washington.edu/Career/Em ... ry2015.pdfBiglaw1990 wrote:33 Biglaw+6 Fed Clerk=39/191zozo wrote:I think this is wrong. It's 18.8.Biglaw1990 wrote:U of Washington-20.42%

That's correct, but we are including all of the Biglaw and Federal Clerkship positions, not just the FTLT.zozo wrote:Some of those aren't FTLT. Why in hades would you include a firm job or clerkship that wasn't FTLT? How is that a good outcome. . .Biglaw1990 wrote:That's correct, but we are including all of the Biglaw and Federal Clerkship positions, not just the FTLT.zozo wrote:Some of those aren't FTLT. That's not how Law School Transparency does it. Only FTLT are included. Why would you want contract positions included?Biglaw1990 wrote:That's correct, but we are including all of the Biglaw and Federal Clerkship positions, not just the FTLT.zozo wrote:Some of those aren't FTLT. lol, so Biglaw1990 did all of those percentages, and they're all wrong? I doubt it'll make much difference but yeah stick with FTLT. Some of the others may be miscategorized but we like to play it safe around here.Effingham wrote: lol, so Biglaw1990 did all of those percentages, and they're all wrong? Always only done FTLT.

Re: Class of 2015 Employment Statistics by School
I mean Biglaw1990 still did us a favor. I wasn't even going to report any school below 10%. Plus, there are only a handful of non-FTLT Biglaw jobs so the numbers he provided are still highly reliable. I know I don't care enough about whether Drexel is 5% or 4% to go and check his work
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
