Re: Help with a tough deccision
Stanford is a top tier elite school. Even if you had a 4.0 and 180 you just accomplished something amazing by being accepted. I would attend without hesitation. There are no opportunities that Harvard or Yale grads will have that you can't get also. Even if you had a 4.0 and 180 LSAT, you couldn't guarantee an acceptance from any of those 3 schools next cycle.

If money REALLY isn't a factor, then enjoy the sunshine in California.

This is not a tough decision. I'll see you at SLS in the fall.

Chicago, Stanford, and Columbia are all terrific, elite schools that offer very comparable opportunities. At equal cost, I'd go to Stanford. Depending on your scholarships, UChi or CLS could be the right play. If your parents are excessively wealthy and paying for everything, choose where you like best.

Is there anything other than money that would make them better choices? Like does Columbia do better with really good firms in New York?jbagelboy wrote:Chicago, Stanford, and Columbia are all terrific, elite schools that offer very comparable opportunities. You will do just as well in NY or better from Stanford. NY is not an insular market like most others, home field advantage is negligible beyond what you can accomplish by hustling during the school year.T3TON wrote:Is there anything other than money that would make them better choices? I'd personally rather go to SLS than HLS, but it kind of comes down to personal preferences at that point.T3TON wrote:Slight complication: I got on the Harvard waitlist. I'm thinking of riding it out to see what happens. If I do get in off of it, should that change things for me?

This. Just like what color shirt you should wear today, HLS/SLS is all about your personal style.Lincoln wrote:I'd personally rather go to SLS than HLS, but it kind of comes down to personal preferences at that point.T3TON wrote:Slight complication: I got on the Harvard waitlist. Probably not.T3TON wrote:Slight complication: I got on the Harvard waitlist. I'm thinking of riding it out to see what happens. If I do get in off of it, should that change things for me?
Possible outcomes from either school are probably equally rosy. Given your career goals, I think Stanford might even be better, since they send a higher proportion of graduates to federal clerkships. Also, Palo Alto > Cambridge.
