SMU vs Boston College

Post by karebear25 » Sun Mar 27, 2016 12:55 pm

Hello,

I am torn between these 2 schools and was wondering if anyone had any insight on which school would be better/be worth it in the long run. I am a Texas resident and got about half scholarship from both schools. In terms of ranking, I know Boston College is higher up, but there is fierce competition for jobs with Boston U, Harvard, and all the other great schools in the area. I feel I would have higher employment prospects in Texas, but BC Law would look better on my resume for the future. Btw, I'm hoping to go into immigration law. Any insight you all could give would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

That's not really how this works. If you want to work in Texas, you should either go to a T-14 (and be careful in which one you choose) or go to UT/SMU/UH for as cheaply as possible. There's no way you should be going to BC expecting to work anywhere but Boston. Rankings are meaningless!

The best choice would be to retake the LSAT and get a better scholarship or get into better schools, but if you must:
If you want to work in Dallas, go to SMU
If you want to work in Boston, go to BC
