Emory vs WUSTL better place to live?

Post by mjs289 » Mon Mar 21, 2016 9:54 am

I already asked once ITT, that time Vandy vs. WUSTL. I'm planning for IP, and nearly everyone said prospect for IP can be considered identical for both Vandy and WUSTL. Then, I think it's reasonable to believe Emory has the equal prospect. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Anyway, I have no regional preference and financially speaking both aren't far from each other; Emory will cost about $25k more for 3 yrs, but I don't consider it to be a substantial difference. My primary consideration in choosing the school will be "which place is a better place to live?" Anyone who has been to both schools? I'm an international so can't make any visit.

Also interested in IP - from what I understand, Vandy is a little superior to WUSTL but it depends more on location. Can you do the TI:GER program at Emory? The Dean sold me pretty hard on that (I won't be attending, but it seems nice!).

As for Wash U, I can speak to living as I went there for 4 years and lived off-campus for 3. Absolutely love St. Louis and would move back were it more feasible in terms of jobs, etc. PM me if you want specifics. I have friends who went Wash U -> Emory Med and they like Atlanta as well, but prefer St. Louis (of course, anecdotal).
