Scholarships and Waiting for Decisions
I have been accepted to a few of my lower range schools including University of Richmond to which I was offered a full tuition scholarship. However because I sent in my applications later in the application cycle (early February), I still have not heard from several of the schools I have applied to, including my top choice. The deadline to accept the full tuition scholarship is April 5th. My main concern is not having an adequate amount time to fully weigh my options before I accept or decline this offer. Should I notify the other schools I applied to of this offer with the hope that I will receive decisions sooner? Alternatively, would it be better to contact the admissions office of University of Richmond to see if they would be willing to extend the deadline until I have received all of the decisions back?

If you still haven't heard back from the other schools by the end of March, I would contact Richmond and ask for an extension. An extension is easy to say yes to (especially when it's that early) and more likely than convincing other schools to rush their admissions process.Jhey216 wrote:I have been accepted to a few of my lower range schools including University of Richmond to which I was offered a full tuition scholarship. The LSAC Statement of Good Admissions and Financial Aid Practices could also be helpful here too. If they do not offer you an extension, keep in mind that you can always accept the offer from Richmond and accept a new offer (i.e. from one of the schools you are waiting to hear from) at a later date if you want to do so. Here's a link:Jhey216 wrote:I have been accepted to a few of my lower range schools including University of Richmond to which I was offered a full tuition scholarship. Keep in mind that if you do deposit and later choose to accept another offer, you'll like have to forfeit your deposit to do so. Good luck!
