Re: UNC ($) vs Wake Forest ($$$$$) vs. GW (sticker)
Well UNC and GW are out regardless of your goals or other circumstances (unless they're being paid for by family, which it doesn't sound like is the case), so if you want to go to law school take Wake Forest. Good luck.

Attending GW at sticker would most likely be the worst decision of your life. Please, do not go there.
UNC for that price is indefensible.
If you are from North Carolina, content with practicing in the area, and aren't interested in big law, then Wake Forest is where you should go.

You need to give us a lot more information. These schools are regional (GWU maybe not) and require evaluation of your goals (BigLaw, PI, don't know yet), your ties to NC, and the opportunity costs of going to law school. But, yes, first blush, WFU is not insane. If you're going to figure out what the hell you want to do with your life, however, it could be a bad choice.

WF is the only smart choice and is predicated on the condition you're willing to stay local and accepting of a non-earth shattering starting salary.

Re: UNC ($) vs Wake Forest ($$$$$) vs. GW (sticker)
I am from North Carolina, with strong ties in the legal field in Charlotte and Atlanta. Went to undergrad in DC though. My ties are with those from Big Law and mid-size firm (who gave me a diversity scholarship (not included in the scholarships I put in the original post for wherever I go). Because of those ties I would not mind staying in the south.
Based just off of the post I've received alone. GW is out. So it's a matter if more debt is worth it for UNC versus minimal debt for Wake Forest.
Thanks for the advice, by the way.

You're not hoping to work at a big firm are you? If you are you need to aim higher: T14/Vandy at a minimum.
WF is a good choice with modest career goals and local aspirations.

All I asked which was the best choice between the three. Didn't ask about T14 or Vandy, don't be condescending. Vandy is great, but I was waitlisted. So, between the three please.

Big Law is not make or break for me (but if I got one, yayy Go Me). Though I will say I do know big law lawyers from UNC and WFU. However, both received their jobs through the Southeastern Minority Job Fair not through OCI.
and sorry, sometimes it gets annoying when people no matter what you ask say, "T14 or burn all legal inspirations" lol

1) What are your LSAT and gpa numbers?Lawonomics wrote:Big Law is not make or break for me (but if I got one, yayy Go Me). Though I will say I do know big law lawyers from UNC and WFU. However, both received their jobs through the Southeastern Minority Job Fair not through OCI.

2) How many times have you taken the LSAT?
It is most likely a good idea to retake the LSAT in June and see what kind of increase you get.
It seems like going to WF is a fine choice, as long as you understand that big law is not a realistic possibility; 13% of the graduating class last year placed in big law. But the prospects of getting a 3-4 point increase on the LSAT are amazing. Don't sell yourself short.

OP what are your stats and urm status? How many LSAT attempts have you made? What are you career goals? Where would you like to practice? It would help us tremendously in helping you.

But no one said that.WaitWaitDontSay wrote:+100Lawonomics wrote: ...sometimes it gets annoying when people no matter what you ask say, "T14 or burn all legal inspirations" lol
OP sounds like he doesn't care about getting a competitive biglaw job in the south. If that is the case then keeping debt down is the smart move.
To be honest, I'm not in favor of sticker debt for biglaw either because I think it's just too much money and few 0Ls know anything more than the starting salary. . So no way I would suggest OP go to T14 at sticker. It's a huge mortgage on your future.
I don't know if retaking in June would help with more money for scholarship or wait lists.
OP: GW at sticker is a charter example of what Professor Campos called a trap school. You are very smart to stay away. http://insidethelawschoolscam.blogspot. ... s.html?m=1
Congrats on having a scholarship that you can use at any school. That is a real achievement.
Edit: I hope I didn't cause OP to delete.
