Will IU, Illinois,or Wisconsin give me an edge over Chi Kent?
I was accepted to all four schools with significant scholarships. Chicago is where I want to practice and I am hoping to get a job in government or with with a public interest firm. Will going to higher ranked Big Ten Law School give me an advantage rather than going to Kent and building relationships in the local area?

U of I is the best bet of the bunch. What are your GPA/LSAT and how many times have you taken? ED at Northwestern seems like the best call.

I took it once and got a 165. Undergrad gpa is a 2.7. I graduated from a top 25 business school in 2010 and have done military and worked as a paralegal for a large nonprofit law firm in NYC. I realize NU is best but they rejected me and don't really want to wait another year. I was waitlisted at ND so it may be a possibility.urbanist11 wrote:U of I is the best bet of the bunch. Illinois is the best especially if you want to be in Chicago, their placement is decent and alumni in Chicago are really active. Kent is ok, but its job placement is weak.MidwestNYC wrote:I took it once and got a 165. Undergrad gpa is a 2.7. IU and Wisconsin aren't worth considering if you want to be in Chicago. What are your scholarship offers from the 4?

U of I is definitely your best bet for Chicago placement IMO. The placement numbers speak for themselves. 25% biglaw and almost 4% federal clerkship. One of the best choices outside the T14 (along with WUSTL, Texas, etc.), and you’ll probably get a full ride.
