Re: UVA vs. UF
What is it you want to do with your degree? That would likely be more helpful than knowing so vaguely where you want to work (there are cities in FL that are on the east coast).

I don't want to speak for OP, but I'm assuming by saying he wants to live & work in an East Coast city he means the 'cultural' East Coast, not the geographical or time-zone East Coast if that makes sense. So, yeah, Miami is on the East Coast, but that's not really what people think of with that term. I think OP is probably talking more about NY, Boston, Philly, DC.lymenheimer wrote: (there are cities in FL that are on the east coast).

1) you may be surprised. That's a strong LSAT and it may be enough to get you at least 5k/yr (haven't looked on mylsn or anything). Even that would help ease your debt load. You should probably wait a few weeks/months until scholarship stuff goes out to actually ask this question. It may end up easier than you think.
2) Have you looked at UVA's VLFP? That plus public service loan forgiveness (from the feds) might make your decision easier.

Personally, I'd go to UVA. $150k isnt a death sentence by any means. Although, many ITT are going to strongly disagree/tell you to retake, etc.
All may be good advice, but my gut says UVA.

Re: UVA vs. UF
I'm a 3L at uva and will come out with the same amount of debt. Deciding to attend was the best decision of my life. My grades aren't perfect and im never the smartest person in my class/row. I have a job and will pay off my debt, eventually. Getting a job in a large market, assuming you're in the top 1/2 of the class, is not difficult if you're a normal person and can carry a 20 minute conversation. If you have ties to a smaller market, getting a job is not difficult either.
Employment prospects aside, debt is just debt, a few numbers preceded by a money sign. You'll pay it off, eventually. With that said, you only choose a law school once in your life. It's a big decision and the most important one in your life --besides who to get married to. It will be on your resume, firm website and stay with you--where you want to law school not your spouse. People will ask 'where did you to law school?'. You want to say uva law, a T m***kin 14. Don't miss this chance to go one of the greatest legal institution in the world. Send in that uva law deposit.
edit: and you got that GI bill and you a vet. dude. why is this even a question? you got it made.

UVA.
150k is worth the greatly enhanced employment prospects and flexibility to get a job/location that you really want.

UVA and unless you decide that working for a small firm in Florida is your thing, this isn't close.

Re: UVA vs. UF
I was literally in the exact same position as you. Almost the exact same GPA and LSAT and looking at UVA for 150K or my state school for nothing.
I chose the free option. The way I looked at it was with a $150k debt load and the other things I wanted to do in life, my options weren't really going to be greater in number if I went to UVA. Yes, they may have been "better" or more prestigious options, but when you stop to think about it, the jobs you can reasonably take without being broke as shit are pretty small in number.
Sure $150k isn't that bad in isolation, and for a number of people this is completely reasonable, but for an older person it's more problematic. You already have to pay for a house before you even get a house, and how many people can afford two houses right out of law school?
