Patent Examiner

Post by patents » Fri Jul 17, 2015 4:38 am

Hi I am currently employed as a primary patent examiner at the Uspto with 8 years experience.

I have an msee and have passed the patent bar. I have been accepted to Santa Clara law as well as New England school of law. I currently live in boston.

As of now the pto will pay for most of my law school as long as I work full time and go to school part time. I have no plans of leaving the pto anytime soon so the jd would be for potential movement to admin patent judge position or other internal position that require the jd. If I were to leave the pto in the future it would be for and in house position or to start my own patent strategy firm. Boston or Silicon Valley are the two places I'd stay for any long term position.

I was wondering what you guys thought would be the better school. Stay in Boston and go to New England school of law and potentially transfer to Suffolk as they are the only two part time law schools in the area or love to Santa Clara and attend scu law.

Does it matter for what I want to do with my experience where I go to law school?

Any information would be greatly appreciated

Gpa/lsat? If youre getting sponsored you might as well get into a T14. It will help your network along if/when you decide to leave the uspto
