UH Law Worth it for the price?

Post by A@M_or_bust » Mon Jul 06, 2015 11:54 am

Hello TLS community,

This post is for my significant other - she wanted me to make a post on her behalf.

The school being considered is U of H Law Center.
The scholarship has been maxed out at $20,000 per academic year after negotiation.
The total COA with the interest taken into account is $78,000.

She is from Texas.
She has taken the LSAT 3 times over the past year.
Stats: LSAT 162 GPA 3.66

She wants to attend law school because it has what she has seen herself doing and likes the idea of problem solving and being intellectually stimulated on a daily basis.

Background Info: I am attending UH Law Center this fall because I have military benefits on top of scholarship money that will leave me with $35,000 in debt, and I don't have to take out loans the first two years because of my benefits and using my scholarship for living expenses in those first two years. So, perhaps it would be better for her to sit out a year, and see how law school is through my experience before taking on loans this year?

Also, she is considering enrolling in a paralegal program, because it is a less-risk way to break into the legal field and to make a more informed decision if the legal field is for her.

I know this is an unconventional post, but we are just looking for second opinions on the matter.

Thank you in advance!

Ya I'd go paralegal to see if she actually likes it

Then retake when she's eligible to go to UH for free or UT

She should probably re-consider law school.
